I would be lying if I said Jordan wasn't good company.
I mean, sometimes he would get a little out of control but....
Mr. Butler was right. He was a nice guy.
But I noticed whenever we talked about family, his facts would be clipped. He would say very little, or none, about his family.
I wondered why.....
All my teachers complimented me on Jordan's scores. His grades went from D's to C's, and his Spanish average was an 82. Eh, not bad.
We walked each other to our classes, and we sat next to each other at lunch. Jenna started making jokes about us 'dating'. I shrugged her off, but imagined us as really close friends.
Who knew I would feel like this in over a week?
It was Friday, a week and two days after our first tutoring session. I was laughing at an incident he was talking about and he was protesting.
I was crying. "Wait....so you peed while getting baptized?! Oh my God, that is so fucking dumb!"
He frowned at me, but couldn't hide his smile. "Nah, I guess the water was cold, which made me pee in the water. So I was baptized with holy water and pee."
I put a hand to my face. It was hot. From all the laughing.
"Seriously, stop," I gasped. He smirked at me. Grabbing my hand, he said, "Let's go."
"Where?"
"To McDonalds, where else?"
I stared at him, a slow blush creeping on my face. Was this a date?
"Why?" I asked, dumbly. He smirked. "Uh, because I want to."
I shook my head, a smile slowly creeping up my face. "Okay," I said, finally. Slinging my backpack on, we held hands and walked out the doors of Adams High.
-
"Hey guys! How may I help you?" A blonde waitress in a McDonalds uniform came to our table. Obviously, she was checking Jordan out. It bothered me a little, like an itch from a mosquito bite.
Fine, it bothered me a lot.
But Jordan wasn't paying attention. He was looking straight at me, smiling. I got used to that smile.
"What do you want, Sof?" He asked me. I blushed because of the nickname. He smirked.
"Why'd you use my nickname?" I asked him. He smiled, lazily. "What? Just because I'm lazy doesn't mean I can't use it."
I rolled my eyes. The waitress cleared her throat. I turned to her and am pleased when I see annoyance and jealousy in her expression.
"I'd like a Cheesburger, and some fries."
"Small, medium, or large?"
"Medium. Oh, and I also want a drink!"
Jordan snorted. The waitress sighed.
"Small, medium, or large?"
"Um....." I stood in thought, just to annoy her. The waitress tapped her foot impatiently, sighing. Jordan snickered silently.
"Large," I finally said. She gritted her teeth and Jordan busted out laughing. Sttaring at the both of us in disgust, she smiled at Jordan. "And what would you like, sir?"
Jordan grinned at me. "Uh....."
The waitress's smile disappeared just as it had came.
"Make up your mind." She said, all flirtiness gone. Jordan chuckled. "Damn, chill! 'Kay, I want what my friend got right here."
