(A/N- RECAP TO "MY PARENTS MEET CHARLIE")
Mr. Butler handed me a note.
Come to my office, we have something to discuss.
Juley
I gritted my teeth. What did Juley want? We always had something to discuss. It was mainly about her .
I looked around, looking for a specific head. Ah! She was talking with that Asian girl..... Charlie.
Whatever Juley and I had to discuss sounded like it wasn't going to be good, as usual. I left the classroom before Sofia could notice me.
-
One of the ladies working as a secretary spots me as I walk past her desk. She said, "Hey, mister! Where do you think you're going?"
I lift my note, swinging it in the air. "I'm Jordan."
The lady's features stiffen. "Let me see the note," she mumbled. I rolled my eyes and handed her the note. Juley told everyone about me. Why was that dumb secretary doubting me? Was she new? She sure didn't look new.
She read the note, and the frown etched on her face slowly disappeared, replaced by a neutral look. "You may go," she said, quietly. I nodded and headed down the hallway to Juley's room.
I dreaded talking to Juley. We would always end up talking about Sofia, and my stomach clenched sickly at the thought.
Christiano's not that patient, a voice said in the back of my head.
I know.
Which is why I had to move soon.
I just didn't want anyone to know about this.
This was my fight.
I opened Juley's door without knocking. "What?" I gritted out.
Juley stared at me. She was eating a doughnut, and her room was warm. Comfortable for her but itchy for me.
"Wow, Jordan. You never use your manners towards me. But come in, come in." Juley stood up and walked over to me, shutting the door behind me. She then went back to her desk and got out a doughnut. Handing it to me, she said, "Here, sit down. This is going to take quite a while."
I took the doughnut and sat down on her bean bag, away from her. My hatred for her was still there, just lessened. Because of Sofia.
When I didn't say anything, she said, "Well, I'll start then. What I called you in for was about Christiano."
My eyes widened. She knew about him? What he was doing to me?
He would kill me. How did Juley figure it out?
She sighed. "Honestly, Jordan. I am your mother, you kno-"
"You're NOT my mother." I hissed. "Don't you ever say that again. Now, what about Christiano?"
Juley stared at me, taken aback by my words. She recovered quickly, however, and took a huge bite of her doughnut. "He emailed me. Told me he wanted you to join his business."
I breathed through my nose. I was okay. I was safe. Christiano told her.
"And do you know what I told him?" Juley said in a sickly sweet voice.
My breathing stopped. No, she couldn't have, she couldn't have told him--
"No."
I froze, not batting an eyelash.
No. No. No. I felt like crying. Christiano was going to kill me. Definitely.
"W-why?" I whispered, so softly I could barely hear it.
Juley slammed her palms on her desk. "Why?! What do you mean 'why'?! That man is evil! That-that bastard is the reason your father got into this mess!"
I squeezed my eyes shut. As my father's only available son, Christiano planned to use me as his assistant. I would be selling drugs next to him, and get my ass in jail. Like Kevin.
It was Christiano's fault that Kevin was in jail. Why he wanted me I had no idea why.
"It doesn't matter what you say," I said in a hard-as-steel voice. "I'm going to join his business."
I could hear Juley gasp. "What, Jordan! Do you even know what he's doing? You could end up in jail for 35 years. You could end up killed!"
I opened my eyes. Everything was bright now. Vivid.
"Then so be it." I said.
Juley shook her head. "Do you want to know why Christiano sent Kevin to jail?"
I turned to Juley. She had my interest.
Juley exhaled. "Because Kevin could kill. He didn't hesitate to kill his own father. And Christiano knew Kevin wouldn't hesitate to kill him. So that's why he wanted you. He knows you can't kill a thing."
I stared at my hands. I was speechless. The only reason why Kevin was in jail was because Christiano was scared of him? Kevin was in jail for 15 years for that shit?
I clenched my fist. "That Christiano...."
I stood up and swung open the door to her office. I heard Juley let out a shaky sigh. "What-where are you going?"
"To beat the fuck out of Christiano," I said as I slammed the door with all my might.
-
I finally calmed down as I walked back from the office. As I was nearing Mr. Butler's room, a face flashed before my eyes.
Sofia.
My heart lurched painfully in my chest, and I had to lean against the wall.
What was going to happen to Sofia?
No. No, she wasn't safe with me. She was going to end up getting hurt. Oh, hell, I was leaving her, she was going to end up getting hurt anyways.
I was leaving Sofia.
The thought felt like a punch to the stomach and a stab to the heart.
I couldn't imagine a world without Sofia. I couldn't.....just....leave her alone!
Why was it me? Seriously, I could be Tyler, who didn't have a fuck in the world to give!
I walked back into Mr. Butler's room and saw Sofia and Charlie talking again. I decided to say my goodbye in an unintentional way. I gave Sofia a small kiss on her lips and said, "Sorry, babe. Juley called me in."
I couldn't help the cringe that escaped me. What kind of goodbye was that? I noticed Sofia staring at me suspiciously, so I smiled.
Then that girl, Charlie, made these weird noises and said, "Eww! PDA!"
I glared at Charlie and said, "Shut up. Now quit hogging my girlfriend . Do you like love her or something?"
I saw the way she looked at Sofia sometimes. I understood how she felt.
But, as always, she was firery. "At least I don't love her as much as you do." Lie. "You hog her all the time! Who knows? Maybe you're giving her some ST--"
I quickly clamped a hand over her mouth and yelled, "Shut up!" Charlie started laughing, and for some reason, so did I. It was then when Sofia smiled at us, I realized what I was doing. This was my goodbye.
