After my 'outburst' I found myself at the park, the last place I thought I would be.

I sat on a bench, near the monkey bars, and stuffed my hand in my pocket to get my phone.

Guess what?

I left it on my dresser.

I groaned and buried my face in my hands. I was beyond frustrated. I didn't know whether to cry or scream.

Everyone hates me. Everyone fucking hates me.

"Hey.....are you okay?"

I look up to see an Asian girl staring at me. She had olive skin, which was kind of yellow compared to mine. Her hair was long and black, and was tied up in a bun. She was holding a little girl's hand. The little girl looked almost identical to her, except for her hair, which was tied up in two very cute pigtails.

The little girl was wearing a checkered pink dress while the older one had on acid washed jeans and a shirt that said 'I don't give 2 boiled eggs'.

"Where'd you get that shirt?" I blurted out before I could stop myself. My face flamed red. I mean, the shirt was cool. It looked like merch to me.

She tugged on the end of her shirt. "Oh, this thing? I got it at Crazy 8. That store is full of shit like this."

I stared worriedly at her little sister. She saw my eyes and chuckled. "Kim doesn't understand English. She's a Vietnamese girl." She sighed. "Family issues, you know?"

No, I didn't know.

I scooted over. "You can sit down if you like." I said. She nodded. "Thanks. My butt is killing me. Kim may seem quiet right now, but she can be a real pain in the ass, if you know what I mean. Siblings," she shook her head. "They can be your worst nightmare sometimes."

I nodded, chuckling lightly. "I agree. I have two siblings at home. A younger brother who is about to go to middle school, and a younger sister who is a freshman."

The girl winced. "Ouch. Is it wrong for me to feel bad for you?"

I shook my head. "Nope. You are luckier than me. They may seem like angels, but trust me, in the inside they are real devils."

She snorted. "You know how old Kim is?"

I bit my lower lip. "Uhm......five?"

"Close. Very close, actually. She just turned six."

"Damn. I wish I had that power, to guess and get my answers correct on the test."

She chuckled. "Don't we all?"

At that, I laughed. I actually laughed. And it felt good.

I stood up. "Thanks for making my day." I said. I heard her whine. "Aww, you were keeping me company." I thought she was serious, until I turned around and saw her wink at me, a cheeky grin on her face. Somehow, my face managed to split into a smile, too.

"I'm Sofia, by the way," I said as I started walking backwards. The girl's grin widened. "Call me, Charlie. And wait!"

Telling Kim to do something in Vietnamese, she ran up to me while Kim obediently sat down on the chair.

"Do you mind if I write my phone number down on your hand? I mean, I have a feeling we are going to be close friends."

I nodded and smiled at her. "The feeling's mutual."

She grinned at me, and fetched a pen from her back pocket. It was a purple glittery one. "This might tickle," she said through her teeth and the pen cap. I nodded and twisted my arm in a way she could write it easily and a way I could read it easily.

She wrote the four and goosebumps broke out on my skin. But I didn't flinch. She laughed at me. "Damn, girl! If I were you, I would've hit you by now. Instant reflex," she added when I had nothing to say.

"Well, I'm trying," I said, which caused her to smile again.

After she finished writing her phone number, I started walking back to my house. "Call me!" She yelled from the distance.

"I will!" I yelled back.

Oh, Charlie. You're my new best friend. Whether you like it or not.

Just kidding.

Or am I?

I didn't get myself.
