Before I knew it, Halloween came up. And it was getting colder.

It was almost a week before Halloween, and Mom was already staring to put up the Halloween decor.

"Mami," I complained. "Don't you think it's too late? We only have six days until Halloween."

Mom laughed. "Sofi, it is never too late for anything."

Lie.

It's too late for Jordan to protect his mom. Damn, I could never stop thinking about him, could I?

"Sofia, go ask Mrs. Smith if she still needs our ladder. I've decided to copy this thing on Pinterest, where you decorate the tree with--"

"Okay, Mom. I get it." I sighed, irritated. I just wanted to go back and text Jordan.

I went to Mrs. Smith's door and knocked it. Trust me, I was shocked to see Tyler's face instead of Mrs. Smith's elderly kind face.

"Sofia?" He asked in surprise. "What are you doing here?"

I gave him a light chuckle. "That's what I should be asking you. What are you doing here?" He looked at his shoes and blushed. Adorable. Not sexy, hot, or a turn on. It was cute; adorable.

He smiled at me. "Aunt wanted me to watch over her house. She saw how busy you were, with school and stuff. So she didn't want to bother you and asked me to help."

I chuckled. "And I'm guessing you didn't have any plans....."

".....so that I would baby sit this house. Or more like house sit." He finished. I laughed. Tyler was cute.

Just like Tyler Oakley. I wish I were friends with him.

He shook his head. "God, I'm so stupid! Come in!" I followed him inside as he shut the door. I forgot why I was here in the first place....

Oh, yeah. I came to get our ladder back.  Mami must be mad now.

I followed him to the kitchen. Opening the fridge, he got out a container full of pink....cake?

Opening the lid, he gave himself a slice. Turning to me, he said, "You want some?"

I looked at it, carefully. "Is that cake?"

He laughed. "Yeah. Strawberry, actually. It tastes pretty good." I smiled at him. "Sure." He handed me a plate and placed a medium sized piece of strawberry cake on my plate. I nodded at him and he smiled at me. "C'mon, let's go to the dining room. I wouldn't want you standing when you're tired." I blushed. "Aww, thanks Tyler. But it's okay, I can stand." I followed him anyways.

I could not stand.

Jordan never acted like this....

Wait. Why was I thinking about Jordan?

I have to focus on Tyler. T. Y. L. E. R.

We sat on a black 'u' couch that I didn't know Mrs. Smith owned.

"So..." He said. "What's up?"

He looked fidgety for some reason.

"Oh!" I remembered why I was here, again. "Mom told me to see if your aunt still needed the ladder we lended her. But seeing she's not here...."

I took a bite of the cake and froze. I was not expecting the taste. The cake was creamy, yes, but the inside was full of warm, strawberry jelly that was tarty and made the whole cake taste so good. The cake, basically, was soft, brown, and sweet.

"Ohmygod!" I moaned. "This tastes so good."

I may have sounded like we were having sex.

This cake was a major turn on.

Just kidding. I'm not that weird.

He laughed. "That's what all my friends said! My mom had the same reaction as you."

I took another bite. "Mhmmmm. Who made this?"

He blushed, again. Adorable. "Me."

I grinned at him. "Well, Tyler Smith. You do have a talent for cooking."

He smiled at me. Then, his face turned serious. "Anyway, you need the ladder back?"

"Only if Mrs. Smith isn't using it."

"When you say that, it reminds me of my mom. But anyway, I don't think she's using it anymore. I'll get it from the attic. I'll be right back." He placed his piece of cake on the coffee table and jogged up the stairs, towards, or at least I thought so, the attic.

I stared into space, thinking of how I thought I was in love with Tyler....

Wait, thought? So I wasn't anymore?

Then who was I in love with?

A flash of Jordan appeared in my mind. Jordan?

No. Hell no. We were friends. Just friends.

He came back sooner than I thought, carrying th ladder with one arm. I smiled at him. "Thanks. A lot. Really," I said as I grabbed for the ladder. He shooed my hand away. "It's fine. I'll carry it to your house."

Tyler was too good to be true. I wonder if my baby was still single...

Sofia, you just thought you didn't love him. Now you're calling him your baby?

I didn't get myself.

I opened the door for him, as we walked towards my house. My mom immediately spotted him. Her face broke out into a dazzling grin and she raced towards us. "Hello, Tyler! What brings you here?"

Tyler blushed. Again. I swear, can a guy blush as many times as he does?

But it's adorable. When he blushes.

"Oh, nothing. Aunt wanted me to house sit because she thought you guys were busy." Mom scoffed. "Tell your aunt that we are never too busy to help out, 'kay?" She ruffled Tyler's hair and for some reason, I blushed. Maybe I was imagining me as my mother....?

He handed the ladder to her. She smiled in gratitude. Then, Tyler took my hand as if it were the normalest thing in the world.

If 'normalest'was a word.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't.

He dragged me to the front of my mom, where my mom couldn't hear us. "Sofia," he said. "My school is having a Halloween dance. A few people wanted to partner up with me but I rejected them. I was wondering if you could come with me?"

My heartbeat started beating rapidly. Was he asking me to a dance?

I blurted out, "Yes!" before my body could say no.

I mean, what if Jordan got jealous?

My mind immediately scoffed. Yeah, right. Jordan won't care if you go. He'll be a good friend and give you tips on what to do on the dance.

Tyler looked relieved. "Really?" He smiled at me. "You're a great friend, Sofia."

If this happened before Jordan and I became close friends, I would've been freaking out. The word 'friends' would've hurt me a lot.

Now, it was like a slight graze on my arm or something.

"What are friends for?" I joked, flashing him a smile.

I needed to go to Jenna, and maybe Jordan, ASAP.
