The rain was now falling heavily from the evening sky, each sparkling droplet hitting the ground with a satisfying splash and splosh. Noah felt like he was in one big puddle, and he loved it. He felt as if the rain was washing all of his bad thoughts and negative feelings away from his life.
With each step of his feet, a new question appeared. Where would he end up? With absolutely no sense of direction or a meaningful place to go, Noah had no answer. He had places he did not want to go, of course, but no where in particular that he wanted to be.
He wandered aimlessly through a large field with long green grass. It was the end of summer so the evenings were still bright, and guessing that it was about five o'clock at the moment, Noah calculated that he had about 4 hours of walking until he had to find a place to stay. He understood that, although the place he lived in was more or less deserted for at least five miles, there could still be strange men or women wanting to take him away. He wasn't stupid. This meant he had to get somewhere before dark.
Without a word of warning, a fluffy, plump bumble bee flew right onto the nose of the boy. Now, most people would try and shoo the insect away; however, Noah decided to make friends with the bee until it needed to leave. Lifting his finger up, he cautiously lifted the bee onto it and said hello.
"Hello Mr. Bumble Bee. I understan' that you need to get goin', but why not travel with me for a bit?"
So the two walked together for about ten minutes before the bee decided to leave.
Noah watched the winged insect fly off into the distance, and wondered what it would like to be a bee. Pretty fun, he supposed. But dangerous. Very dangerous.
After three hours of absent-minded walking he decided to stop for a rest, and found himself in paradise.
Wait - how had grassy green fields turned into paradise?!
Looking around, he saw pink and purple leaved trees that created a sort of tunnel. He peered through the foliage and saw deers, rabbits and all sorts of other animals scurrying around, making houses and shelters, and decided he would copy them.
First he got the wood, which would soon turn into a tent. He tried and tried to get the right shape, but it just wouldn't work.
Noah was not normally one to give up, but he had been walking for a while, and everything was aching. Exhausted, the boy fell into a deep sleep, where he dreamed about what he might find if he continued to walk further.
Noah woke with a start, hearing the sound of a tractor driving through grass. He looked for the pink and purple trees, the animals, the shelters. But they were no-where to be seen.
He pawed his way through familiar long grass, and soon realised that he had completely imagined the paradise world he had found himself in.
With a long, deep sigh, Noah understood that he needed to keep a level head if he wanted to find the same sort of paradise one day. He decided to throw away the disappointment and swiftly started walking again, after a good night's sleep in a field.
At least he still had his box with him, safely tucked underneath his arm. It was all he needed to keep him going.
(A/N: Hello again! This chapter isn't very important, but I thought it would be nice to have a bit of a happier tone in the story! Do you feel sorry for Noah? I know I do...
I will try to update more often but... 3 chapters in one day! That's pretty good for me! He he!
