PART NINETY-NINE: PHOTOS
"So, what colors do you need again?" Tess asked as we made our way through Victoria's Secret. I had called the photographer and I only had a few days before our photoshoot for Patrick's anniversary present. I had some outfits, but I needed a few more things to wear - every month of the calendar was going to include pictures in different outfits.
"I need something in emerald green and a few more bright colors," I answered. We looked around for a while until we located bras and underwear in the colors I needed. We did a little additional shopping afterwards and got lunch together. I was so incredibly tempted to tell her about how Patrick and I had agreed to try for a baby, but I knew she would bug me about it every day until I got pregnant if I did. And besides, she was neck deep in her own wedding planning. Her and Jonathan had hired a wedding planner, but Tess was still very much involved in the whole process. She wanted everything to be perfect, and she still was doing plenty of work to make sure everything was right. Their wedding was going to be next fall, in the beginning of October. I was the maid of honor, and I was so excited to be a part of the bridal party. I knew it was going to be an amazing wedding, and I was so happy for the two of them.
"So, can I ask why you're doing this so early? I mean, you said that this is for your anniversary and not Patrick's birthday, right?" Tess asked before taking another bite of her pasta.
"I know it takes time to put together something like this, and Andrea has a lot of other clients. This way she's not pressured to hurry, and neither am I. I'll have it done and not have to worry about it. I mean, we already have our birthdays and Christmas to worry about, so I'm just trying to plan ahead," I explained. I wasn't sure how convincing that was, but for once, Tess didn't need to know the truth.
"Yeah, I guess that's true. Well, let me know how it goes. I've been thinking about doing something like that for Jonathan. Maybe I could do a shoot in white lingerie and my garter and shoes and everything and give it to him on our wedding night."
"That's an awesome idea!"
"Got that one off of Pinterest," she beamed. Of course she did. Even though Tess had a planner, she was constantly looking at ideas online and showing them to her.
"How is the wedding planning going?" I wondered.
"Pretty good. Obviously we've had a lot of time to start already, and there's still another year until the day. We're taking our time with it, but we're definitely ahead of schedule."
"Yeah, Patrick and I probably should have set aside more time to plan and prepare. But, I guess I can't complain. The wedding was perfect, we're happy, and everything worked out."
"Hey, as long as you guys are happy. And you obviously are. You two are my OTP," Tess joked.
"My OTP is Patrick and Jonathan," I laughed.
"You know what, you're right. They're the ones who are truly perfect for each other. Maybe you and Kaner should get divorced so they can finally be together like they've always been destined to be." The rest of our lunch date consisted of more of the usual joking around and staying caught up on each other's lives, which was something we had to do more often now that we had been living apart.
*******************************************
Tess and I had agreed to convince Pat and Johnny to get together for a guy's day out so I could do the photoshoot without Patrick being around or suspecting anything. So, a few days later, he headed out to meet up with his teammate and my photographer, Andrea, came over.
"Hey there, Lena! It's been a while," she smiled as I let her inside the apartment.
"I know, it's been almost a year! And a year before that, you took our engagement photos...it seems like Patrick and I somehow find an excuse to get pictures taken by you every year, actually," I realized.
"Hey, I'm fine with that. I love doing shoots for you two. It should be fun to just do a shoot with you this time, though. You have your outfits, right?"
"Mhm. I'm already in one of them," I responded in an attempt to explain why I was unprofessionally wearing a robe.
"Great! Well, let's go ahead and get started, then."
Andrea got her lighting and equipment set up in our bedroom, which had probably never been cleaner. I finally took off my robe to reveal the lingerie I had worn on our honeymoon. I also wore the white lingerie from our wedding night, much like the photoshoot that Tess wanted to have for Jonathan. Together, the top two to four pictures in those outfits would make the January section of the calendar. I also wore some red lacy lingerie for February, posed in a sexy baking outfit in the kitchen with cake for November (our birthday month), and wore Patrick's jersey as well as some other Blackhawks merchandise for June (the month when the Stanley Cup was always won). Andrea and I headed to her studio for the rest of the pictures so we could use her holiday and seasonal props and sets. Although it was a long day of shooting, it was a ton of fun. It was strange at first, to have someone photographing me while I was practically naked (in some pictures, I pretty much was), but I got more comfortable in time. Andrea let me look at a few of the photos along the way and I really liked a lot of them. I couldn't wait until I got to see them all and pick which ones went into the calendar.
I decided that since Patrick would have to wait to see all the pictures, I would give him a bit of a sneak peek. I didn't want to ruin the surprise of the anniversary gift, but I did send him a mirror picture of me in my robe, pulling the fabric back to reveal a sliver of lingerie. I added a message that said, "When you get home, I'll let you see what's underneath." I wasn't sure if he actually did rush to end his day with Jonathan, but it did feel like he got home relatively quickly after he read the message.
"It didn't take you long to get home," I giggled when Patrick walked through the door.
"What did you expect?" he laughed, tossing his keys onto the kitchen counter. "So, do I get to see what's underneath that robe?"
"Chill, you haven't even been home for one minute!" I said, surprised.
"Yeah, but you're all I've been thinking about for the past thirty minutes," he told me as he grabbed my waist.
"Is that so?"
"Mhm." He pushed me up against the kitchen counter and pressed his lips against mine. I tangled my fingers in his curls as he picked me up and set me down on the countertop. He untied the belt that kept my robe closed as he kissed me and then stopped to look at me for a second once it was open.
"What do you think?" I questioned him.
"I think you need to come with me," he decided. He picked me back up again and carried me to our bedroom, leaving the robe behind.
A few moments later I was on top of him on our bed, our clothes littering the floor. He reached into the drawer of our bedside table to grab a condom, but I grabbed his wrist to stop him.
"You don't have to use one this time," I assured him. It had been almost a week since we had decided we were going to start trying for a baby, and I didn't really want to wait anymore.
"Are you sure?" Patrick asked, looking into my eyes.
"I'm sure. As long as you're ready for this, too."
"I'm ready."
