Love Like You

Night Terror

Y/N and Jasper sat on the couch, watching TV and playing with Tiger, Jasper yawned loudly and Y/N laughed, " I think it's time for someone to go to bed."

"What're you talkin' about? I'm just fi-" Jasper yawned again, this time it was even louder.

"Haha, you had a long day, rescuing me and all, I think you should go take a nap at least," Y/N said.

"N-no way, I don't want to," Jasper protested a bit childishly.

"C'mon, you're exhausted, I know you say that gems don't need to rest but you used up a lot of energy today," Y/N said.

"I'm just fine!" Jasper grunted, she clearly wanted to avoid going to sleep.

"Don't be so childish, you idiot, you need to rest whether you like it or not!" Y/N scolded.

"Ugh, fine..." Jasper knew the human wouldn't leave her alone until she slept, so she might as well get it over with.

"Good, let's go," Y/N sighed, relieved that she was no longer arguing with the gem. The two walked to Jasper's door and Y/N bid her a curt goodnight and went to her own room to sleep. Jasper shut the door behind her and laid on her bed, tossing and turning, trying to get into a comfortable position and sleep. It was only a few hours, Y/N was in a deep sleep until she heard a scream:

"Let me go, I'm not your prisoner anymore!" Jasper yelled. Y/N got up as quickly as she could and ran over to the room the gem was sleeping in, she opened the door and saw Jasper swinging her arms around as if she were pulling against restraints.

"Jasper?" Y/N whispered quietly, the gem didn't stop but that didn't stop Y/N. She took the gem by the shoulders and avoided her flailing arms as best as she could. "Jasper! Wake up!" She said more urgently, she shook Jasper more and more until the gem finally came to her senses. Her eyes were wide with fear and her face was beaded with sweat, "Jasper, are you okay? You were having a night terror..." Y/N had a concerned look in her face, she leaned in and hugged the gem. "I-is that why you didn't want to go to bed?" Y/N felt guilty for arguing with the gem earlier. Jasper grunted, still not saying anything. "I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault," Jasper grunted, her voice was gruff, "you didn't know." Y/N let go of the gem and looked at her face, she still had dark, baggy circles under her eyes from exhaustion.

"You still need to sleep," Y/N said, and before the gem could argue she put a finger to Jasper's lips, "and this time I'll stay with you." The gem looked at her oddly, but Y/N just laughed softly and took one of her hands, "I learned that it's easier to handle night terrors when you're with someone else and you're not all alone." Jasper didn't say anything, she merely nodded and continued to stare at this puzzling human. "So go back to bed now, I'll be here if you need anything."

'This is odd, I've never had a human protect me, I've usually been the one who was protecting...' Jasper thought, she lied down and turned her back on the human, she was stiff and an awkward silence filled the air.

A hand rested on Jasper's arm, "Hey, relax and trust me for once, will ya?" Y/N said softly. After a moment Jasper tensed up and flexed her muscles, as if getting ready to pounce at any moment, but she suddenly grew limp and relaxed her whole body. She closed her eyes and quickly started to drift into a dreamless sleep.

It was the middle of the afternoon when the gem finally woke up, Jasper was embarrassed to find that she was actually the one holding onto Y/N's soft waist. Before the human could wake up and see what the gem was doing(because Jasper was sure Y/N would tease her for as long as she lived), Jasper panicked and quickly pushed Y/N off the bed in a single sweep of her hand. A soft thump was heard and Jasper cringed, but she didn't dare look off of the bedside, knowing that she would get an earful that morning.

"Ow!" Y/N complained, she sat up and rubbed her back, "what the hell Jasper?!"

"S-sorry..." Jasper apologized half heartedly.

"Ugh, whatever," Y/N grumbled, there was a loud scratching at the door. Y/N stood up and hobbled over to the door, she opened it up to see Tiger desperately trying to jump into Y/N's arms, "Oops, hehe, we kinda left you behind, didn't we?" Y/N asked sheepishly. "Sorry..." The cat didn't seem to mind since he was now in Y/N's warm arms, he already seemed to be forgiving his owner. "I'll get you something to eat," without looking back at Jasper, Y/N carried Tiger with her to the kitchen. Jasper slowly followed, still feeling guilty about what she did.

'Why did I even do that?' Jasper thought to herself miserably. She was stuck in her own thoughts until a small 'ahem' interrupted her.

"You know..." Y/N paused for a moment and smiled gently, "you really like cuddling in your sleep!" Y/N's gentle smile turned into a violently mischievous one, she laughed as she saw Jasper's face burn up from embarrassment.

"S-shut up Brat!" Jasper yelled, trying her best to hide her blushing face from Y/N, "you're just imagining things!"

"Sure, sure," Y/N agreed sarcastically, she stopped laughing for a moment and set Tiger down so he can eat. She began walking towards her room but stopped at the hallways entry, and glanced at Jasper playfully, "but just letting you know... you're not the only one who enjoyed it!" Y/N quickly ran to her room, letting Jasper slowly process what the human and said, and not to mention...to hide the fact that she was blushing fiercely as well.

Im so sorry!! I haven't updated in FOREVER!! Lots of issues happening lately.
Hopefully a majority will be solved by the end of this week...but if it's not...ehehe, don't expect any more updates in a LONG LONG while...like longer than this one. Im sorry!! The chapter is crap but this is the best I could do in my current state. IM SORRY!! Don't be angry, I'm sorry!!
