Love Like You

... Something Worth Protecting

Jasper stood outside of Y/N's door for a moment, wondering if she should just barge in or knock, for the sake of the human customs. 'She's pissed off, I know it,' Jasper though to herself and groaned...true, her words were a bit harsh but she became irritable when it came to any news of the Crystal Gems. 'Traitors...' she thought to herself, 'I have the right to talk about those traitors any way I want! They betrayed they're own kind to save these miserable life forms.' Jasper thought angrily to herself. She waited a bit longer and listened closely at what was happening on the other side of the door, but there was nothing. Not a single sound, so Jasper quickly opened the door to find that the windows were wide open. 'This brat...' Jasper thought, 'don't tell me...' Jasper groaned aloud and leaped out of the window, running as quickly as possible to find Y/N while her tracks were still fresh.

~meanwhile~

Y/N stared into the sunset, letting her worries and emotions become drained from her body. She exhaled and enjoyed the peace she felt as she sat on the edge of the cliff, letting her legs dangle over the edge. 'I should've brought my bathing suit...or at least a towel so I could swim,' Y/N thought regretfully as she watched each foamy wave crash against the rocks below her. Y/N laid on the ground, closing her eyes and pouting, 'Stupid Jasper...' Y/N was beginning to grow angry at Jasper, now that she looks back and sees how awful Jasper had treated her. She looked up at the sky and squinted, 'Stupid Jasper...she's so stupid...' Y/N couldn't think of what else to call her at the moment but she was sure that if her thought were clear, it would be easier to come up with a better insult. 'She's such a...a...a clod!' Y/N recalled the snarky insult that was trademarked by the small green gem, Peridot, the insult seemed right for the occasion.

But soon after a small series of temper tantrums a new emotion began to take over...it was sadness. Sadness that Jasper was treating her badly, sadness that Jasper may never be able to understand what the Crystal Gems have fought for. Sadness that Jasper had questioned the motives of Rose Quarts. Sadness that Jasper may never find that there are indeed things worth protecting on this planet-

"Y/N!!" A voice called out and stood her up only to yank her away from the cliff with aggressive force, the strong figure brought Y/N into her open arms and squeezed onto the human tightly. "What do you think your doing?!" The voice asked gruffly.

"Why do you care?" Y/N asked in a raspy voice, the salty air scratched at her throat. She didn't have to look up to know it was Jasper who was holding onto her.

'Why do I care?' Jasper thought to herself, she felt magnetically drawn to the human ever since she first met her (no matter how cruel she seemed). But she's never know the particular reason as to why she was attracted to her, not a reason which was too obvious until now... "You've changed me..." Jasper admitted quietly, "I don't know how, but you've changed me." Y/N pulled face from Jasper's firm chest (omg that's really hot, but this is a serious situation) and she stared into the gems eyes, making sure not to break contact. Jasper's face flushed and turned her head away. "I-I..." Jasper paused, trying to look for the right words, she huffed as her cheeks grew even warmer. "I've begun to feel something when I'm with you- whenever I see you, hear you- hell...even when I think about you I feel something. But I don't know what this feeling is, so I just get so frustrated! I've never had this feeling before..." Jasper didn't look at Y/N during her entire confession, she felt the same nervous and jittery feeling she would always feel before a fight. "I...I guess that I found someone worth protecting..." Jasper finally look back at Y/N, almost scared to see her reaction.

But when she did look down she saw that the humans eyes were filled with tears and her mouth was clamped shut, to avoid any noise to come out of her mouth. Before Jasper could say anything Y/N burst out laughing, "haha, Jasper...(more violent laughing and crying) I didn't know you could sound so corny!" Y/N was gasping for breath. Jasper blushed violently and she tried to say something but it all came out in stutters, only causing Y/N to laugh more, but it was calmer this time. "Ahaha, I'm sorry Jasper," Y/N wiped a stray tear from her eye, "I didn't mean to laugh at you (cue a grumpy grunt from Jasper), I just never thought that I'd hear those words come from your mouth." Y/N said, her stature changing solemnly, "But I'm glad that you did, and what you're feeling isn't strange..." Y/N took Jasper's face in her hands, looked the gem in the eyes and smiled softly, "if anything...I think I can help you understand what it is."

"Really?" Jasper asked, slight doubt in her voice.

"Really," Y/N's lighthearted laugh filled the air, and her contagious smile  spread and a small grin was set on Jasper's face. Then unexpectedly, Jasper swept Y/N off her feet (omg) and tossed her playfully into the air (no Y/N's were harmed during this scene). Then Y/N laughed again, her voice full of relief, all of her worries had become washed away with Jasper's words. Without realizing it, the gem had voiced both of their emotions.

First off: sorry for the short chapter!!

Omg, I'm so sorry, I literally never ever update. But yeah, life's hectic: I've been skipping therapy, failing classes, getting high. Can you blame me? I'm a complete wreck

I wish I could update regularly but yeahh, I'm buried in studies, this is one of the few things I do during my time of procrastination (but I just write a few scenes every other day).

Anyways, next chapter is 50% likely to be a lemon/smut chapter, so beware. And I am no longer going to be continuing the story to go with the tv shows current plot line. Same motive, different plot line.
