Love Like You

Journalist/Photographer

Y/N woke up early in the morning...for once, she had to be sure that Jasper didn't wreck the house while she was sleeping, with her cat in one hand she pushed a small opening in Jasper's doorway with the other. To Y/N's relief , Jasper was still in bed although the she wasn't covered in a blanket. 'Isn't she cold?' Y/N thought to herself, she quietly opened the door enough for her to walk through, she slowly hovered over the sleeping gem and grabbed a blanket. She quietly unfolded it and laid it over Jasper, Y/N smiled and laughed softly, "she looks so peaceful when she sleeps." As Y/N was watching Jasper she grew a mischievous look in her face, then Y/N slowly took the small kitten and gently placed him in Jasper's thick, white hair.

Y/N saw the small bundle roll around and bite Jasper's hair playfully, but that immediately woke the gem up, "What the hell?!" Jasper sat up and the small cat that was once in her hair rolled now out of the bed and onto the floor.

Y/N was now laughing hysterically, "I- hahaha- g-good- hah- morning...Jasper- pfft!" Y/N's face was flushed from laughing so hard. Jasper was, on the other hand, not amused at all, and Y/N saw that the gem was about to lose it. But she quickly stopped laughing and calmed down, then she inched closely to Jasper's face and they were barely a foot away from each other.

"Good morning Jasper," Y/N smiled, still amused, "how did you sleep?" Jasper backed up and blushed, she looked away from Y/N, never before had Jasper been so close to someone...nor had she felt like her stomach was doing backflips so violently.

She quickly tried to compose herself, but failed-slightly, "I-I, doing just fine...what are you doing here?" She still hadn't looked at Y/N directly, she was almost afraid that the human still hadn't moved from her stance.

"I'm here to wake you up, duh!" Y/N stated, "And I also need to get breakfast going and leave pretty soon." Y/N added quickly.

"Your leaving again? Why?" Jasper now turned her whole body to Y/N, and she saw that the human was holding the cat and was in the doorway.

"Well, I got a job to do, okay?" Y/N rolled her eyes, "now hurry up and get off your ass!" She walked out of the room and left Jasper to slowly crawl out of bed and follow her.

Jasper walked out of the room and looked to Y/N who was already cooking, the cat was roaming around the living room, "Y/N...what's a 'job'?" She asked.

Y/N turned to Jasper and smiled, she looked as though there were stars in her eyes, "Jasper, you called be by my actual name!" She shouted excitedly.

Jasper turned away and didn't look at Y/N, "your just imagining things runt, now answer my question!" She was embarrassed that she had messed up in front of Y/N.

Y/N on the other hand seemed to be more happy than ever, "say my name again!"

Jasper just sighed and put a large hand on Y/N's face and gently pushed her away then the gem went to sit on the couch, ignoring Y/N. She pouted and went back to cooking, there was a small silence, "brat, you still didn't answer my question."

Y/N rolled her eyes for the second time that days "A job is something you do to get money, and well, money is something humans need to buy what they need to live."

"So what's your job, runt?" Jasper asked.

"It's not 'runt'! It's Y/N!" Y/N complained, "ugh, why do I bother? Anyways, my job is being a journalist AND a photographer!" Y/N stated proudly. Jasper just stared at her with a blank face, "right...you don't know what those are, a journalist is someone who gets information from others and a photographer takes pictures." Jasper still stared at Y/N cluelessly, "argh! I'll explain it another time! I need to get ready for work!" Y/N set the food down onto two plates and walked to her room.

Jasper stood up an took a plate, then she started to eat, 'jeez, what am I still doing here with this human?' She thought to herself, but she contemplated a bit, the gem had no idea where she was, nor did she know where Peridot was. Without either pieces of information she was stranded, 'just great, I guess I'm stuck here,' Jasper growled in frustration. But the gem knew it would be safer here than wandering around, for all she knew those Crystal gems were looking for-

"Shit, I gotta go!" Y/N yelled, interrupting Jasper's thoughts, the gem was surprised when she saw Y/N dressed in a pencil skirt and a F/C blouse. Y/N threw on some flats and heaved a sack over her shoulder, "Jasper, make sure you feed the cat, he eats the food with the picture of an orange cat on the bag, just put it in a bowl and leave it for him to eat. And I also have some food in the fridge that you can eat if you want, now I really need to go! Bye Jasper!" Y/N slipped on some shoes and ran out of the door.

Jasper finished her food and plopped down on the couch, the cat rolled around the room and stared at Jasper again, Jasper groaned, "I guess it's just me and you, cat."
