Chapter 13
I sat in the cave, the humidity in the air picking up as it began to get colder and colder. I grabbed my shirt and pulled it tighter to me to try and make myself war,.
Deidara was moving around outside, gathering things. He didn’t tell me what he was getting though. After ten minutes of silence and freezing in the cave, Deidara walked back in with a pile of wood.
He threw it on the floor and began a fire. A small fragile smile slipped onto my face when I felt the heat.
“Much better, un.” Deidara says.
“Yeah.” I reply.
He stood up from couching down by the fire and walked over towards me and asks, “Are you cold?”
“Yeah just a bit.” I reply, smiling up at him. Why am I even smiling at him? I should be pissed of beyond limits at him for playing head games and such!!!
“You can get closer to the fire.” He says, annoyed.
“I will be fine. Now let’s get down to business. You have some explaining to do.” I say.
“Are you aware of how seals work?” He asks.
“They seal things away.” I say, rolling my eyes.
“The seal on you was sealing away your chakra. Every time you used your chakra, you would not be able to gain it back. How you have lived for so long amazes me. But if that seal were to be broken, you would gain an amazing amount of chakra.”
“I see.” I say as he took a break to think his words over.”
“We Akatsuki have a goal. It is to seal the tailed beasts and use them in a war and such. We want to bring peace to the world. But in order to seal off the beasts we have to bring out something. Pain did not tell us what it was though. But he needed a large amount of chakra to do so. We figured we would use the chakra of someone who would have a large amount and than kill them off.”
“And you found me.” I say.
“We heard of you, yes.” He says.
“That’s why you killed off my clan?” I ask.
“No that is not why.” He says. “Sasori took blood samples from them to make his poison. We massacred them so no one could help the others that will get poisoned.”
“I see.”
“When we found you, you learned about your seal and such. Your town had this seal put on you because if they hadn’t, you would have been suffocated by your own chakra.”
“I see.” I say again. “So you guys were just going to use me.”
“Yes.” He says.
“So what changed your mind?” I ask.
“I couldn’t live with myself if you got killed.” He says, speaking softly now.
“Why not?” I ask.
He looked down at my face, reaching down and caressing my face in his hand. “There is just something about you, un.” He says.
My face began to get hot and I just looked away. He let out a small sigh and says, “They say if you love something, let it go. If it comes back, it is yours to keep.”
I looked up at him, curious at what he meant by this. “I am letting you go Nina. But do me a favor, and don’t come back. Not ever. I never want to see you again.” He says, speaking loud and rude.
