Chapter 18
“Who said you ever had to say goodbye?” A cocky voice says from ahead of me.
I looked up to see the most shocking sight to me. I stared, no words coming out of me.
“What, you aren’t going to come hug me or say anything at least?” The low masculine voice asks.
I stared ahead in disbelief. I shook my head, and then dropped to the ground on me knees, my hands grabbing my hair, me chanting to myself, “This is not real. He is dead. That’s not him. You are hallucinating. Get yourself together.”
“Nina….?” A soft voice asks, trying to get my attention.
“Don’t come near me. Quit talking to me!!!” I yelled, my eyes slammed shut, ignoring the fact that the blonde was before me with blue eyes.
I felt a hand gently touch my shoulder. “Nina, what are you ranting on about, un?”
“Don’t touch me~!!!” I yell, tears building up and falling. “You’re dead. You blew up. You no longer exist anymore in this world.”
“Nina, I’m not dead.” His voice says quietly.
“I heard all about it. Kakashi would not lie about it.”
“It was a clone.” He says, voice stern and serious, touching my chin and making me look up.
I looked up because of his force, tears streaking my cheeks and I’m sure my eyes were puffy and my face was red. He looked down at me, face soft.
I just stared at him, then shook my head and punched his chest saying, “I hate you. You’re such a jerk. You lead me on then leave me to hang and you kiss me then say you hate me and you keep changing your words and opinions on me and I just don’t understand.”
I felt a hand wrap around my wrist, and pulled me into a chest. “I had to say those things to you.” He says quietly.
I unsurely wrapped my eyes around him and pushed my face into his chest, trying not to cry anymore. “Why?” I ask, the words barely coming out clear.
“I wanted to protect you.” He says, his arms wrapping around me and pulling me closer.
“Protect me?” I ask.
“I didn’t want you to have your chakra extracted to release the seal to what extracts the tailed beasts from their host. When I let you go, I said i hated you because I didn’t want you to chase back after me.”
“But what about when you tried to kill me?” I ask.
“I never tried to kill you.” He says, looking down at me confused.
“When you used your detonating clay, it hit my chest….” I say, trailing off.
“Oh my god. I’m so sorry. I wasn’t trying to hurt you. I just meant to scare you, un.” He says, eye wide.
“It’s whatever I guess. I’m alive.” I say.
“I can see that. And I’m thankful you are.”
“I t-thought you were d-dead.” I mutter, tears beginning to fall again, pushing my face into his chest, hiding it from him so he couldn’t see me crying. “I d-don’t get it. I n-never c-cry.”
“I think someone fell too hard for me.” He says. Just from the way he spoke, I could tell he was smirking.
“Don’t smile you jerk.” I say, smiling into his chest.
“Nina, how long do you plan on making me wait?” he asks.
“Wait for what?” I ask, pulling back and looking up at him.
