Chapter 9
After Avery left, Caspian called me in for a private meeting leaving the others to do whatever they want.
When I opened the door I found Caspian sitting at his even more larger desk where large maps scattered over it along with a compass and a pencil.
"So what do you need me for?" I asked cautiously as I approached him. Peter and Edmund were quite cross when they found out the three of us sneaked unto the ship. Caspian was initially surprised but who's to say that he wouldn't be angry either?
"I just need you to help me with something." he said as he busily looked through the maps on his desk.
"What is it?" I asked. From the looks of it, Caspian seemed too preoccupied to be upset at me.
He looked up and smiled sheepishly. "I'm thinking of putting two people in each room so that there would be enough room for the three of you."
"Okay, so?" I asked suspicously.
"I need you too... if you could with Lucy... and uhm" he trailed off trying to find the right words.
I looked at him confused then I realized what he wanted. "You want to use me as an excuse so you can share a room with Susan!"
"No!" he said quickly showing a flash of surprise and guilt in his eyes.
"Hah I knew it!" I placed both my hands down on the table in front of him. "You still have feelings for Susan! That is quite scandalous of you dear Caspian."
He looked at me with a small frown. "I know, I know it's horribly wrong and yet..."
"Caspian." I placed a hand on his shoulder. "You have to let her go once and for all alright? Besides, if you let Susan sleep with you in the same room together, I'm sure Peter would have murdered you, if you're fiancee doesn't get to you first that is."
Caspian shivered slightly. "Aye you are right Lady Charlotte."
"Caspian please." I winced.
He chuckled, then looked at me seriously. "Tell me, did you find out how she feels?"
I looked at him and gave him a small smile. "Well you see Caspian..." I walked off to look out through one of the windows. "She... well." I paused to look at Caspian and stifled a giggle when I saw the hopeful expression on his face. "I think she fancies you, but your feelings have got to stop!"
Caspian sighed. "I know, I apologize. It will end. I have done it before I can do it again, but I'm going to need you too..."
It was my turn to sigh. "What is it now Caspian?"
"I need you to tell her about my engagement. I can't bear to see the look on her face."
I gasped. "I can't do that! It's your job to do so. I'm not the one getting engaged here."
"Please Charlotte." he stood up and put both his hands on my shoulders. "I would do whatever you ask. Give you whatever you want. Gold, horses, diamonds..." he paused and smiled slowly. "Who among of us do you fancy?"
