Chapter 10

I opened my eyes to brightness and felt the rough sand beneath me. I looked up and was shocked to see a majestic Lion stand before me. It looked at me with it's ancient eyes.

"Stand child." it commanded gently in it's deep voice.

The voice warmed my body with familiarity. As if in a trance, I did as I was told and gently brushed off the sand bits from my clothes. I was surprised to see that on it's paws it stood more than half my height. I could only guess who it was and why the Lion looked so familiar to me.

"A-Aslan?" I stuttered.

The lion nodded it's head and from my guess it smiled at me. "Right you are my child."

"Where am I?" I asked him.

"You will know when the time comes Charlotte, and your time has not come yet."

"Then why am I here?"

I heard a soft rumble come from Aslan's throat and when he looked up at me I could see that he was smiling. "You have so many questions, but that is to be expected of an amazing child like you. I am here to wake you up Charlotte, your journey does not end here."

As Aslan said this he stepped closer only stopping a foot or two away.

"Will I ever see you again?" I asked amazed by this wondrous creature.

"Indeed you will." he replied. I watched as Aslan the lion tipped his head back and let a loud roar.

I woke up once again only to find myself gasp for air and choking out water.

"Charlotte!" Lucy exclaimed as she hugged me. "I'm so glad you're alive."

"Yeah, me too." I said under my breath.

I looked up to see that Caspian, Peter, Edmund, and Susan were there as well. Still a bit wet, but alive and well.

"Are you alright?" Peter asked concerned.

"I should be. What happened?" I asked a bit dazed.

"You drowned, but it was a good thing Edmund managed to find you in time." answered Susan.

"Lady Charlotte I think it's time for you to get some rest." suggested Caspian concerned earning me a slightly jealous look from Susan.

"That would be nice, but I'm sure I'm fine." I said slowly getting up.

They all looked at me worried, but I excused myself into Susan and Lucy's room. I quickly dried myself from the wet sea water and changed into more comfortable clothes. As soon as I hit the bed I fell asleep exhausted by the events that happened. Unfortunately, even in my sleep I couldn't escape the images of waves of black water drowning me. With my heart racing in my chest, I woke up in the middle of the night to find Lucy standing over me.

"What's wrong Lucy?" I asked her.

"I need to-" she yawned. "Feeling sleepy... do you mind?." Taking the hint I got off the bed and helped settle Lucy into it. "Sorry Charlotte." she mumbled sleepily into her pillow.
