Hey guys I'm back and soo, a little author's note. I decided to put the first part of this chapter into 3rd person point of view  just so I can broaden my horizons. x) The rest will be in first person after that.

Chapter 22

"Ed, what are you doing here?"

"Pete." the brown haired boy said surprised turning towards his brother. "Erm. Is it wrong to visit an ill friend?"

Peter, the eldest brother gave a faint smile and shook his head knowingly. "Ed..."

"What brings you here Peter?"  Edmund said slightly annoyed by his brother's sudden intrusion. Peter had caught Edmund off guard as he was staring at the slender girl beside him.

She was resting peacefully after she had passed out from hours of fighting against an evil wizard Gallath. She had several cuts and bruises scattered around her body, but the worst was a deep gash on her thigh which was wrapped tightly in bandages.

Edmund stared quietly at her, her eyelids fluttering lightly and her slightly plump lips releasing gentle  even breaths. Her long dark hair lay spread about beneath her head and her hands lay resting at her sides. She would have almost looked dead if it weren't for the slight movement of her chest.

She looked so at peace, different from her usual determined look she always had. Edmund was far from a young boy, and for a while now had finally matured into a young man. His thoughts weren't like that of most young men, but they tended to stray every now and then.

When he met Charlotte he hadn't intended on liking her at all. In fact his mind was quite far from courting anyone. Peter on the other hand was on to that age where he was to set out and find himself a beautiful maiden. It's not impossible- not with Peter's strong jaw line and his sky blue eyes, but it's a pity that he had set his sights on the very same girl Edmund had.

Edmund stared at her with a gentle look in his eyes and reached out a hand to gently caress her lightly tanned cheek.

It was then that Peter had decided to enter and break Edmund from his moment. Which was why Edmund was slightly annoyed at Peter. Edmund quickly took a step away from Charlotte's sleeping form and looked on at Peter.

"Would it be wrong of me to say that I wanted to check on Charlotte?" Peter replied back.

"You're the one that brought it up." Edmund said furrowing his brows.

Peter raised an eyebrow. "Well sorry then." he walked up to where Charlotte lay standing close to her  whereas Edmund had moved to look out the window.

"How do you think she's faring?" he asked.

Edmund shrugged. "She'll be fine... Well that's what Lucy said at least. I wouldn't be surprised if she kept up like this for another day or so."

"That wouldn't be good would it? She's already so thin another day and she'll be bones."

"Let the poor girl rest. She's done a lot to redeem herself."

"Quite like someone I know back then."
