Chapter 17

I woke up to the sounds of voices and the high pitched noise of armor chinking. Opening my eyes I was surprised to find the makeshift beds around me and the sheets were empty. It appeared that I was the last to wake up.

"Finally you're awake. I wanted to wake you up, but Peter said you needed some sleep." said Lucy appearing from behind the tent flap.

"Well, tell him I said thank you."

She nodded. "Let's go. We need to get you ready now."

I followed after her passing by several men who greeted Lucy and I as we passed. We entered into a tent where clothes were laid on a table. I was handed a pair of boots, black trousers and a dark blue long sleeve blouse.

"Uhm, Lucy what is this supposed to be?" I asked her raising some type of heavy leather material.

She looked at it and smiled. "You're supposed to put that under your blouse."

I looked at her confused. "It's made of strong leather to protect you from getting cut. Here let me help you." Lifting the blouse up, she wrapped the material around my upper torso and clasped the lock right over my heart.

Just as Lucy and I finished I watched as Edmund came up to us. Trying hard to stop myself from blushing I kept a straight face and looked up at him.

"Lucy, Charlotte. Caspian wants to talk with us before we go."

We both nodded and I was surprised to notice that he didn't so much as glance at me when he came.

Why won't he look at me? I didn't do anything wrong did I? Walking I watched the back of his head and frowned. I wasn't the one doing anything wrong. It was Edmund! That incompetent fool, how dare he think that he could just lead me on like that and just ignore me. I am not a toy that you can just play with and throw away when you're bored. Maybe I should talk some sense into him. I seriously needed to let some stress out.

My thoughts were soon stopped when I saw the tent. Remembering the way Caspian had told me to leave him alone I reluctantly walked inside of the tent following after Lucy.

As soon as I walked in I could see that Caspian and Peter were glaring at each other. Whatever they were arguing about it might have been serious because I could almost feel the tension in the air.

"Ahem." Lucy said purposely trying to get their attention.

Peter and Caspian looked at us and Caspian gestured to a seat.

I sat down next to Susan who gave a small smile to me.

Caspian grunted and started to talk. "We all know King Gallath is in possession of the Death Chalice, and we must stop him before it's too late. Which is why Peter and I have set up a plan ahead of time." Caspian looked at Lucy and Rowley. "Lucy I want you and Rowley to head to the Lake of Souls to keep watch in case Gallath somehow escapes."

"Are you sure Lucy will be alright?" Peter asked.

"Don't worry I will make sure that Queen Lucy will be safe." assured Rowley.
