HANNA'S POV
"Mom, just take a few deep breaths. It will calm you down." I said reassuringly as I patted my mother on the back. I don't know why she was so nervous, it was only the rehersal.
"I know, I know, but still is my hair messed up? You know how it gets frazzled when I get nervous or anxious, or worried; all of which I am right now... Oh Hanna I look terrible don't I?!" She said almost in tears. This was typical mom, always worried about everything.
"Mom, trust me, you look absolutely gorgeous. Your beautiful brown hair is perfectly in place and if anything your nervousness makes your blue eyes pop even more than usual. John is going to be amazed when he sees you. I can only imagine what his reaction will be tomorrow!" I said trying to sound excited for this wedding. I guess it worked because she finallly smiled and gave me a hug. A knock on the door made us both look up.
"Maria, Hanna, we need to get going. They're expecting us at the church soon." A deep British accent said. Of course it was Harry, my soon-to-be step-brother. I rolled my eyes but luckily my mom couldn't see.
"Hanna!! Dear, you need to get dressed! We spent all this time on our hair and you never got dressed! Oh no, we're going to be late-"
"Maria don't worry, why don't you go ahead to the church and Hanna and I will meet you there a few minutes later. You know how long it takes girls to get ready." He said turning his annoying charm on. Sadly it worked on my mother and she agreed, grabbing her keys and mumbling goodbyes out the door. When she was gone Harry turned to me and winked.
"Leave so I can get changed." I wish I could've just gone to the rehearsal in what I was wearing, but I was in pj's so that wasn't really an option.
"But I don't want to.." He pouted. I was not in the mood for his shit today. I forcefully took him by the arm and shoved him out of my room and locked the door.
"Hanna that hurt!" I heard him outside the door. I rolled my eyes at his fake pain. As I changed out of my pajamas and into a nice sundress, I started thinking about what would happen after the wedding. I was happy for my mom because she was happy, but I didn't think we had needed anyone after. My dad had died when I was little and the same went for Harry's mum so I guess our parents had bonded on common ground there. And don't get me wrong, if I had to pick out of a pool of people for my mom to marry, I would've still picked John. He's very sweet and I can tell he really cares for mum, I just have a problem with his son Harry.
Harry and I were both going to be seniors this year and now that our parents were getting married, I was going to have to transfer schools. I was pretty pissed about that. I had friends that I had gotten to know for three years or longer if they had gone to my primary school. It wasn't too far, just half an hour away, but it would still make it harder for my friends and I to meet and hang out. My mum and I would be moving in with Harry and John which meant I would be under the same roof as Harry for at least one year. I put on a smile for my mum because I knew it would hurt her if she knew how much it actually bothered me. I was willing to tough it out for her sake. But I knew Harry wasn't going to make this easy.
I smoothed out my lavander colored dress and put on my wedge heels before grabbing my purse and opening my bedroom door. I walked to the kitchen to get my keys to the car but they wern't on the hook where I usually put them. I checked the counter, the island, the table and in between the couch pillows. I gave up and called out to Harry.
"Harry have you seen my keys!!??" I yelled not knowing exactly what part of the house he was in.
"Looking for these?" I turned around to find him leaning up against the wall with my keys in his hands and a smug look on his face. I rolled my eyes and reached out to grab them, but he pulled them away teasing me, knowing that even with my heels he was still much taller than me. I frowned and crossed my arms over my chest.
