Jason's pov
She's always gonna be my girl. She's not a freak for this and I don't want her to ever think so. I wish she never signed up for the army. I remember it like it was yesterday.
~flashback~
I came home from the studio and she said we should talk. I'm a little nervous cause usually that means a girl is breaking up with you. So I sit down on the couch. She takes a deep breath and hands me her letter. I'm so shocked and pissed off. "Why would you want to go away? It doesn't make sense!" "I want to be a hero! I want to make something with my life. Jason, I want to be remembered!" Remembered sounds like she's not coming back, making me shiver. "But.... You can be remembered some other way not in a way where you could die!" Tears course down her cheeks. "I- I have to go. Please don't hate me." I sigh and stand up, tears in my eyes as well. "I could never hate you baby girl. I love you too much. Just..... Please come home...you beautiful angel.... Please come home to your cowboy. I'll wait for you. I love you." I kiss her passionately, proving to her that they're could be a million girls but all I will see is her. "I promise Jason. I will come back."
~flashback over~
And she did finally return. Even if she's a little changed. She's still my angel. And I'm still her cowboy. "I'm sorry I got mad at you baby. I'm so proud of you for fighting for your country. Don't ever doubt that for a second." I whisper, laying down beside her sleeping form and falling asleep, my arm wrapped around her waist.
*the next morning*
I wake up and make her breakfast in bed. "Oh my gosh Jay, I missed this so much." I sit back down beside her. "And you'll never have to miss it ever again." I kiss her then she eats breakfast and Mike calls. "You have the other two shows in Kansas. Are you coming back?" "Yeah of course. I'll be there tonight." I hang up. "Who was that?" She whispers, now laying against my chest. "Just work. I gotta be in Kansas tonight." "Wait, you're leaving?" She whimpers, her hands tensing up. "No baby girl. I've just got shows to do. You're comin' with me."

Miranda's pov
We get on the plane and they start the engines. My hands clamp tightly around the seat. "Jason." I whimper but by then, I've already blacked out.
~PTSD flashback~
Dirt explodes all around me and a grenade explodes a few seconds north throwing me to the ground. I clutch my bleeding leg and lean against a brick wall. A song of Jason's comes in my head. "She's the brick by brick that built this house without her it'll all fall down, somehow she finds the faith and strength to believe." My eyes determined, my fists clenched around my gun. "For Jason." I whisper, jumping up. "For Jason!!" I yell, firing off several shots.
*Jason's pov in the present*
"Baby girl? What's wrong?" I gasp, worried. I grab her hands which are tense and tight around the seat. She cries out in fear. She's having a PTSD moment!! "Baby girl come back to me. Please. I pull her into my lap. "You're not there anymore you're safe. Please come back to me." I whimper, close to tears as I hold her tight. She grips my shirt tightly in her fist. "Calm down I've got you." I whisper, kissing her head. After about 10 more minutes of this, she finally calms down. "Where are we?" She chokes out. "On a plane, headed for Kansas." I tell her. "I've got...... To get off." She whispers. What? Get off? We're already in the air! "Baby girl, you can't get off. We're already flying." I say, holding her tighter to prevent her from doing anything stupid. "Let go! Let go! Of me!" She screams. "Baby, look at me!" I cry, holding her hands. Everyone is staring at us by now. "You are okay. You're safe. I promise." "Jason?" "Yeah baby?" "We're safe?" I nod. "Nothin's gonna happen to us baby." I whisper, kissing her forehead. She sits back in her seat, staring at her shoes embarrassed. I put a hand over her. I get angry. "What? Haven't you ever seen a war veteran before?! She's got PTSD! and your stares are probably freaking her out more!! Stop gawking at my girlfriend!! There ain't nothin' wrong! You should be thanking her instead of staring at her like that! Now knock it the fuck off!" I yell, standing up. Everyone feels bad now and they should. "Thanks Jason." "Of course baby girl." I hug her tightly and she falls asleep. Now let's hope she stays asleep through the rest of the ride.
*after the plane ride*
Luckily there wasn't anymore incidents while we're on the plane. I finally get to where I'm going to perform. My opener Cole Swindell steps up to the mic. "I wanna give a big warm welcome to Jason Aldean. His girlfriend just returned from Iraq so I'd love for us to give a big hell yeah!" They all scream excitedly, making me smile. "You are one of the bravest girls I've ever known." I whisper, kissing my girl and walking out onstage.
