"Now I see that all have cooperative looks on so may we get started?" Glumly all of us were stone solid not answering a single word. "So would you like to tell me where it is?" He spat closing in on my face as he bent to my height. Not making a peep he stood up infuriated. "Take them." Corvus swept his hand across the still air and then all of us we harshly shoved foreword. The men swept us to the jail we had before inhabited except this tim the door was replaced with a rock wall meaning the only way out was the fresh door to the futuristic cave.
"What do we do know?" Daphne questioned with eyes as large as lemons half full of quivering tears.
"Let Corvus do what he wants." Giving up I lowered my head feeling their unsure gazed turn towards me.
"We can't just.." Aquila tried to scream.
"Yes we can! Corvus killed Onca, I told her we would protect her but now look where my promise went!" Then a stream rolled from my eye to my chin dripping onto the cavern floor.
"But we can't let her sacrifice go to waste!" Aquila shouted pushing me into listening.
"How'd she die?" More tears slipped and rained.
"What?"
"What happened?" I repeated about to burst.
"I'm not to sure it went too fast. Onca had just found some war supplies as Daphne led us away from the men's guns. She gave me a gun right when it became a full heat battle. Then she went down and they caught up to us taking us captive." Finishing her story I imagined it. Onca, screaming threats at the enemy. Then, falling to the ground with all life dripping from her eyes.
"I don't care what you think I'm going to do something!" Daphne screamed running to the closed door.
"Wait Daphne I'll help!" Sprinting I shook off my depression with Aquila on my tail. Then a screech emitted from the steel door as the girl shoved.
"They didn't even lock it." Aquila said disapprovingly but still realized our luck. Scraping up a freezing grey stone I prepared my self. Holding my arms back I signaled for them to wait. Creeping out I glanced the shoe of a large foot coming around the corner. Gripping the rock with anticipation I scotched back, counted to ten then tossed the stone as hard as possible.
Sadly the stone bounced off the wall uselessly as I missed the enraged man's head by a mile. "Want to know what's funny? Oh who am I kidding of course you do! The thing is that people who are bad always think they are good! Isn't that true?" He glared without a glimmer of expression as I stalled. "Well I'll just be going." And so I sprinted knowing he wasn't as fast as a nimble hound spirit like me.
Too bad I hadn't thought of something even faster, a bullet. Down I fell stunned but still able to comprehend what was happening as he hoisted me up to his shoulder. He easily secured Daphne and Aquila. This time instead of locking us up he tied a skin cutting rope binding us to a pole right behind Corvus tinkering with his machine.
"Ah don't worry it's almost done then you all can admire my masterpiece." Gloating he held up a piece of metal that he was using to point at us indicating we would be the first ones to see such a thing.
"You can't do this!" I shouted noticing the only chance I had was to talk him out of it which proved to be almost pointless.
"Finally I believe it is complete." Corvus proudly said while walking back to admire his craftsmanship. "Men! Get the spaceship ready, we've got to be prepared.'' Now we were falling into hopelessness as Corvus took control of everything keeping us incapable of any good.
Strolling to the wicked power button without a second's hesitation our captivator punched it as a large gust of smoke covered air burst throughout the room. Whipping my head to the side I tried to keep out of the treacherous breeze. The others followed my lead until a tremendous sound of something falling caught all of our attentions.
"Guys!" a familiar voice screamed through the crashing winds like a ghost. "Glad I came, now aren't you ugly ducklings?" Onca said as she untied Aquila, me, then a grinning Daphne.
"How are you alive?" I screamed feeling like I had burst my vocal cords right out of my throat.
"That's not important! Right now we just need to turn this thing off!" then as the guards lumbered out of their rocket Onca shot them one handed pretending like she was an expert by flipping her hair. Sprinting to the machine my hand hovered over the button but at that moment everything slowed to a stop. We all lingered on ground for a moment longer frozen in our places. Then everything took a jolt as my head flew up with my hair, my eyes fixed on the ceiling and my arms almost being ripped out of their sockets as my feet miraculously stayed on ground.
"What's happening?" Onca screamed in the same position as me.
"We need to press the button!" I responded picking up my foot from the magnetic feeling ground. It flew up painfully as my face twisted in agony at the horrible idea. Then I fell to the ground as the machine exploded in a very controlled manner.
"How'd it stop?" Aquila asked as we all stumbled back up.
"I shot it." Onca blew the tip of her gun triumphantly as I hit my forehead with my palm.
"Get in the spaceship." I said pointing to their prepared escape capsule. Once we were all secure in the belted seats I finally asked the most important thing of the entire day. "Onca, how did you survive?"
"A magician never tells her secrets." Onca said pointing up to the sky as if fulfilling an invisible oath.
"I give up." rolling my eyes I started takeoff.
Side note: does anyone else think my chapters have been getting worse and worse? Idea and writing wise.
