Chapter 42 - Visiting the past

The sound of squeaking emitted from the bed Jason and Zoey were slumbering. Zoey was turned on her side facing away from Jason. Her hair was off her neck and flowed out onto the pillow that she laid her head on. While Zoey was sleeping peacefully, Jason could not stop tossing and turning in his sleep.

Sweat rolled down his brow. Jason has had nightmares ever since Dani's death and could not get any rest. Even though it was already a couple of months and they had already buried Dani, Jason could not let go of his friend.

Sighs emitted from Jason's lips as he was in the daze of a nightmare.

The room was dark. There was no sound except Jason's heavy breaths that were escaping out of his mouth. His eyebrows knitted together in confusion.

"Where am I?" Jason's voice echoed as he spoke.

Every which way he turned there were depths of darkness surrounding him.

"Hello?" Jason yelled. He could hear his voice echoing which to him was quite strange.

Suddenly, a soft breathing noise occured. It was a females voice. The sound of it made chills roll down Jason's spine. The hair on the back of his neck stood up tall.

"Jason." the voice screeched.

Jason looked around trying to locate where the voice was coming from.

"Jason, why do you hate me?" a familiar voice spoke.

"Who are you?!" Screamed Jason to the top of his lungs. Veins protruded out of his neck and arms as he breathed heavily.

Jason could feel a presence behind him. He could feel the warmth of breath fading into his back. Jason slowly turned around facing Dani that stood behind him.

Jason shreaked in terror. Dani did not look the same. A bullet was lodged into her temple, blood was spewing out of her head. Her face was pale and rough textured. Dried blood stains covered her deceased body.

"Look what you made me do." Dani's voice said with a whisper.

Dani held out her battered arms that were covered in opened wounds. Little pieces of glass were razored into the skin.

Jason stared down at her arms and held back his tears.

"I--I didn't do this to you, Dani I'm sorry okay, I'm sorry." Jason said letting out all of his guilt.

Dani disappeared in a flash. It was silent.

"Dani..." Jason murmured in a low tone. He could almost feel his chest caving in.

"LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO!" Dani screamed popping up right in front of Jason and pushed him with a powerful force.

Jason could feel himself falling, and there was no way he could get out. If he hit the bottom he would be dead.

Jason's name was repeated in a deep rugged tone. Each time his name was spoken, it got deeper and deeper.

"Jason!"

Jason sprung up from his sleep holding his chest.

Zoey had woken him up by screaming his name and it seemed to work.

"Are you okay, you were mumbling in your sleep and shaking..." Zoey said in a worried tone of voice.

Jason wiped his sweat off of his face and ran his fingers through his dampened hair.

"I'm fine, I just keep having horrible nightmares about Dani." Jason spoke.

Zoey heaved a sigh.
