Trails of smoke blew out of the window as Jason held the burning cigarette between his fingers through the exposed crack as he drove along the road. They have been on the road for quite a while, maybe, two days without stopping unless it was for gas, or something important like using the bathroom and snacking when they were hungry.
Zoey had her right leg propped
up in the seat with her left leg bent under her. Her head was resting on the window. She tried to fall asleep, but it was impossible when Jason kept hitting bumps, and also with her family on her mind. Guilt overwhelmed Zoey, leaving a sickening feeling in the bottom of her stomach. She could only imagine what her mom was doing, crying, hurt, and disappointed. She couldn't give two shits about her dad, obviously. It was six o'clock in the morning, the sun was barely peaking over the horizon. It was still dark, but only a tad bit of light made the grey sky light up.
Yawns escaped Jason's mouth as he fought the urge to close his eyes and slumber. He has went days without sleeping before, but it had been a while since he was up early.
Zoey was sound asleep. Her eyes were closed against the dim light of dawn. Her breathing was deep and relaxed. Her breasts slowly rise, and then fall as she takes a breath of air as she slumbers.
Jason gazed at the beauty of Zoey sleeping, he curved a smile onto his lips. He ran his fingers through his messy tossed hair, and focused on the far end of the road. It was quite foggy out, nothing was around but old houses and convenient stores. Jason dragged on the lit cigarette, inhaling the fumes and blowing it out of his mouth.
He flicked the butt of the cigarette out of the window and rolled the window up to his car.
"Damn, I'm hungry." Jason groaned, holding his rumbling stomach. He could feel the emptiness.
He gently shook Zoey. "Babe, are you hungry?" Zoey moaned in annoyance and turned on her side. "Babe, wakey wakey."
Jason snapped his fingers, he knew if he annoyed her enough she would get up.
Zoey opened her eyes, purple bags appeared under her eyes. "There's my beauty."
Zoey rolled her eyes in annoyance at Jason's words, and furled her arms along her chest. She was a very grumpy person in the mornings, especially if she didn't get the sleep she needed.
"Where are we?" Zoey asked in a raspy tone. Jason trailed his tongue along his lips. "Far away from home that's for sure."
Zoey looked out of the window, watching the trees fly by as Jason drove. "I was thinking we could stop and get something to eat since we haven't really had a good meal."
"I'm in the mood for some breakfast."
Jason squinted his eyes, curving a smirk onto his lips. "Duh, What else would you get at six in the morning?"Zoey shook her head at Jason's attitude and sighed. "Well it depends on how much money we have, we have to use that money wisely." Zoey said, getting comfortable in the leather seat.
"Don't worry about the money, I have enough for us to live on." Jason raised his eyebrows as he clenched his jaw in and out.
"How much Jase?" Zoey knitted her eyebrows together in curiosity.
"I have about, five hundred thousand grand in my wallet right now, but I have more in the safe at home." Jason said casually.
Zoey almost fainted onto the dash of the car. "Five hundred thousand grand? Where did you get all of that money from!?" Zoey widened her eyes in amazement.
"I did a little bit of drag racing with Justin a while back, and I won the money."
This was the first time Zoey even knew about Jason drag racing, he never told her about it until now. He didn't really think it was that important.
