Chapter Nine

You turned and found Sonic sitting in the couch.
You crossed your arms and stood in front of him.
"What?" He huffed, seeming still a little nervous.
"Care to explain to me what's going on?" You impatiently said, tapping your foot on the floor.
He sighed lightly, then stood up.
"Look, I'm sorry, okay? I didn't mean to kiss you-"
"Didn't mean to?" You cut him off, your
E/C eyes widening.
He exhaled, "yes."
Then he continued.
"Anyway, I know you like Tails, and I don't want to take you from him. But-"
Knock, knock.
Another knock at the door.
"I'll get it." You said, leaving Sonic and walking over to the door.
By the look on Sonic's face, you could tell he was hoping it wasn't Amy.
You opened the door to see a pleasant surprise.
"Hi, Y/N!"
"T-Tails!" You smiled at him, a light pink covering your cheeks.
"Uh... Is Sonic in here by any chance?" He asked, smiling back at you.
"Actually, yeah." You looked back to Sonic, who was already walking over.
"Oh, hey Tails."
"Sonic, Amy's looking all over for you! Maybe you should confront her and-"
Sonic shook his head quickly.
"No way."
You stepped in.
"Sonic, it's only the right thing to do."
He seemed frustrated.
"I-It's not that easy!"
You rolled your eyes.
"Tails, would you like to come in?"
He nodded and you made way for him to come inside your home.
He looked around a little, admiring the decor.
"Anyway, Sonic." You looked at him.
"Fine!" He threw his hands up in defeat, starting to walk out the door.
You smirked in victory as Tails started to follow Sonic out the door.
You were a little disappointed that Tails was already leaving.
"Tails, wait."
He stopped and turned to face you.
"Yeah?"
You gulped. 'Now what?'
"Uhh... Maybe you could stay a little longer? You know, since you just got here."
He smiled and blushed a little before responding.
"Sure!"
A wave of relief washed over you.
"Okay, cool!"
You both went and sat on the couch.
"So uh," you started, trying to get a conversation started.
Tails shrugged, "I'm curious. You know when we went to that cafe?"
You nodded, recalling the moment.
"Yeah. What about it?"
"When Sonic pulled you to go outside, what did he tell you?"
You stayed silent for a moment, wandering if you could tell Tails.
"Uhh... Nothing really." You lied, shaking your head a little.
"You sure?" He asked, still curious about it.
"Yup. I'm sure." You smiled, hoping he would buy it.
He shrugged, "okay. If you say so."
'Whew...'

-Tails' POV-

Y/N didn't seem very sure about her answer, but I shook it away. I tried to change the subject.
"So, why was Amy chasing Sonic?" I asked, scratching the back of my head.
"Oh, uh..." Y/N seemed nervous again.
I was a little worried about her. She was acting strange.
"Y/N, are you okay? You seem very nervous about something." I told her, looking into her sparkling eyes.
"Nervous? Me?" She put her hand on the chest. "No. I'm not nervous."
"You can tell me, Y/N." I pressed on, knowing that she wasn't telling the truth.
She sighed.
"I-I- I kinda wanna talk about something else."

-Y/N POV-

He's on to me, but can I really tell him the truth? 'No... He wouldn't understand... Right?'
"Okay." Tails responded, half smiling.
You gratefully nodded.
"Like what?" He asked, still smiling a little at you.
You shrugged.
"I dunno."
Tails stood up.
"Leaving?" You asked him.
"Yeah. Sorry."
You nodded and watched him walk out the door.
