Carmen glanced at the time on her phone as she walked to the diner. The time read 9:30. She was a bit early, but it was better to be early than to be late. Carmen's eyes scanned her surroundings, loving the scenery before her. It was December, and snow had fallen just the night before, a thin white sheet covering the ground. She loved this city. It was so beautiful and full of life. There wasn't a dull moment living here.
She walked a couple blocks from her house until she got to the diner, stepping inside. She sat down in a booth, where she was greeted by a waitress who was awfully chipper for it being so early in the morning asked what she would like. Carmen simply asked for water, since food didn't seem all that appealing to her right now. Pulling out her phone, she typed up a quick text message and sent it to Elizabeth. The text read, "I'm here. See you soon. Xo" A few minutes went by, and she heard the front door of the diner open and close, the footsteps of the person tapping against the tile. Carmen's eyes flickered up to make contact with Elizabeth's, a smile plastered on her porcelain face. Elizabeth sat down in the spot directly across from her, and pulled a large file folder out of her purse. On the folder, the name Tate Montgomery was written in big, capital letters in a black Sharpie. She handed the folder to Carmen, who just stared at it with a smile on her face. "I've been waiting for this moment for 93 years." Carmen looked up at Elizabeth. "Thank you so much for this."
"It was nothing. Save your money, by the way. I don't want it. Just do me one favor." Elizabeth said, folding her arms across her chest. "When you find him, put him through pain. Put him through a world of pain that can't even amount to the pain that he put you and me through. Make him suffer." She said, lowering her voice to a whisper so that nobody would hear and become suspicious of their activities. Carmen chuckled lowly, setting the folder down on the table. "And here I thought you'd know my ways by now. That's been my intention all along. The last thing Tate Montgomery is going to feel before I shove a stake through his cold, dead heart is misery." The emotion from Carmen's eyes disappeared, and her expression turned cold. "I should go. I've got vermin to catch." She said, before standing up, grabbing her purse and folder. "We're probably never going to see each other again, so I'd like to say goodbye. Thank you for all you've done." Elizabeth stood up as well, the two women facing each other, and she nodded in return. "Goodbye."
Carmen left, and returned to her home. On the way home, Carmen had been practically dying to look inside the folder, to read the information she had been looking for years for only to end up with nothing. However, she told herself to wait until she arrived home. Inserting her key into the door, she unlocked it and entered, shutting the door behind her. Setting her purse on the couch and the file folder on the coffee table, she sat down and opened the folder, pulling out dozens of papers. Most of them detailed locations of where Tate had been seen at over the past decade. At the bottom of the long list was an address located in a small town named Rosewood in Virginia. "Elizabeth, you are my savior." She whispered to herself. Also included inside were photographs that Elizabeth's connections had sent to her of Tate. Purely seeing his face infuriated her. Her lips curled into a sinister smirk, fantasizing about the moment she would come face to face with him. She fantasized about his last agonizing breaths. He would suffer at her hands, and she wouldn't want it to be any other way.
