Victoria's P.O.V.
The warm sun was shining on my face as I lay in the grass in the middle of a huge empty hay field. Arms behind my head, my long black hair sprawled out over my arms and out onto the ground around me. Some of its soft tendrils were blowing in the ever-gentle breeze.
It's rare early-season autumn days such as this one, where I find myself actually enjoying being on Earth.
There aren't many days like this anymore. Ones where I can just sit and relax and enjoy being by myself.
If I'm not doing that, then I'm usually running for my life.
An eagles cry suddenly sounds an echoes loudly, filling the peaceful silence of Mother Nature with one of her many wonders.
Opening my eyes, I see the bird just as it soars gracefully above me and I smile. Flying is such a freeing and liberating experience... It would kill me to not be able to fly. I continue to watch it fly over to the nearby, slightly coloured forest that is behind me before it disappears from me view. With one last cry, it leaves me to my silent solitude once again.
Sitting up slightly and leaning on my elbows, I look around at the vast field. The forest behind me is called Burnham Wood. It is the place where I spend most of my nights and call my home, well... second home, I suppose. Trying to live in a town proved futile. Those blasted Humans knew who I truly was.
I shrugged off that last thought. If living in a forest was the only way to be free of Hell, Lucifer and my father, for a short amount of time anyways, then that was perfectly fine with me.
As I lay at the top of the crest of the hill, I could just see the huge city spread out before me. From here it is a good 2 day walk away, but that matters not to me, as I never have any intentions of purposefully going there.
Not unless I want to be enslaved, I suppose.
The city is Idris, also informally called 'The Stone City'. Everything in it is built from stone, believe it or not. It is a bit strange to have so much stone as this place is on the border between lush forestland and desert. And it is on this borderline of environments where they grow a wide range of their crops and have good fortune with it as well. But to the east of the city there are the large Rang'Shadina Mountains, and that is where they got all of the stone from.
Idris is the main city in this country of Aydindril. I haven't been able to travel to any other neighboring countries yet such as Lam'Hara or Grosselhiem.
One of my goals in life is to one day begin traveling around the world and see all of the new cultures and life. Hopefully I'll be able to do it before the prophecy comes to pass, or else things just might not be the same anymore...
As I was saying, Idris is practically the birthplace of Angel Hunters.
Why I live so close to it, I don't know. It's easy to steal bread and water for when I stay on Earth for so long perhaps?
The first Angel Hunters name was Valentine Moresh, if memory serves. And he was born at a small farm that was just on the cities edge at the time. After people started enslaving Angels, he originated the idea of training people to Hunt down the rogue angels, as well as other mystical creatures such as werewolves.
He started his school right out of a barn at his home and as the years went by, the city expanded, making his farm the center of the city and it was torn down and rebuilt into a massive cathedral like structure that is now called the 'Seraph Institute'. Which he of course founded.
