Forever young, ch 2
Chapter 2
Finally, after I was sure the were a safe distance away from from me, I came down from the large, and quite uncomfortable tree. I looked around the still dark forest with night fission. One of the many perks of being a cat shifter.
About twenty feet away I noticed a small chipmunk scampering around. I smile a kitten smile and prepare to pounce. To a normal cat, an adult cat, a chipmunk would have been a waste of time to kill. But to a little kitten like me, we'll, this was fine dining.
I bend down, tail up i the air, and I wiggle my butt. Licking my lips, I pounce on the chipmunk. I have it in my paws when I hear talking. Lots of talking...and footsteps...and howls. Crap. I look down regretfully at my still living prey. I'm going to have to let the vermin go, at least until I find it again. Like that will ever happen.
After releasing the chipmunk, I then scurried over to hide in the hollowed out stump of a fallen tree. It smelled rotten and little, decaying pieces were getting into my fur. The one and only word to describe this is nasty. Plain and utterly...disgusting.
It was then that I noticed that there were maggots and centipedes and slugs crawling/slithering around in this stump.
With a loud kitten yelp, I was out of that nasty, bug infested hole and rolling in the grass. I would scratch my ears with my hind legs and rub my back on the bark of trees, completely forgetting my reason for being in the hollow stump in the first place.
I look around myself and notice fifteen or so people. All, of corse, members of this pack, looking at me with curiosity. Some had been shifted into their wolves and some looked to be getting ready to shift. The guys were wearing shorts and most girls had sun dresses on.
I looked from face to face for what seemed like forever. After examining the group more closely, I noticed the alpha and his son. Alpha Sylverstone, who was still in human form looked at me with his right eyebrow raised. He was obviously trying to figure out why I had flipped out and started bouncing of the trees a minute ago.
Kayden looked at me with a mischievous gaze, though I didn't meet it. If he looked into my eyes, he would see me resentment for him and I would be punished severely. Although I still had the urge to rid my body of all the grouse bugs that had found their way into my fur, I laid down in the grass and looked up at my audience.
Some of the wolves became board and they began to disperse. But some who were higher ranking in this pack stayed back and continued to study me. One that I recognized as the current delta started to walk towards me. I unconsciously bowed my head. I could feel the power that radiated from him and my cat responded to this.
His power was nothing compared to the power that radiated from Alpha Sylverstone and Kayden. It was next to impossible not to respect that.
When the delta ,who I knew as Chase, got to me, he bent down and scooped me into his arms. I let out a surprised meow and lightly clawed him out of fear. He's never hurt me but he could easily hand me to Kayden to be "dealt with."
"Selima," Chase said sternly. "Why did you do...that?" He asked slowly, as I'df I couldn't understand. That made me mad, really really mad.
I began to struggle in his hands until I heard Kayden's demand. "Shift," he told me, the power evident in his voice. I knew that refusal was feudal. I would only be punished for it later.
I jumped down from delta Chase's hands and trotted behind a tree that I knew had a small box of extra clothes. I shifted, feeling the burn pain of my bones moving into please and stretching. It was quite painful actually, but not enough to hinder my love of being in cat form.
Reaching into the box, I pulled out a black sundress. It looked decent enough but would be a bit loose. Since I'm smaller than basically all of them, none of the clothes in these boxes ever fit. I ignore this and continue to slip into the dress.
I look deeper into the box to find woman's disposable underwear. I see it and pull one out. I know, it's weird. But, it is so much more sanitary than us just wearing random underwear that you don't know who has worn. It's also much less awkward than wearing none at all, especially when in a dress.
Once I finished dressing, I walked out to face them. As I walked towards them, I noticed that they looked impatient. I shook it off and continued to them.
"Yes Alpha, you needed something of me?" I asked, sounding as sweet as I could in my present grossed out mood.
"Is there something mentally wrong with you?!" Kayden yelled at me, causing me to take a frightened step back.
"I'll let you handle this, son. You're going to be alpha soon anyways, what can it hurt?" The Alpha said.
'Me', I thought to myself disdainfully as the Alpha walked away.
After he was gone, Kayden grabbed me by the arm and pulled me into a small, tree covered area. I knew what he was going to do. He was going to beat me and walk away laughing at my pain, as always. I could feel my eyes become glassy and I knew I was about to break down ant cry.
No- I won't do that. I won't cry in front of him.
As I felt his fist connect with my ribs, I also felt a large part of my resolve break away. As the beating went on, more and more broke away until I just started to sob historically. My entire body was shaking from the force of my cries.
Kayden looked down at me, not a hint of regret visible in his eyes. "What? Is the little going to cry?" He asked sarcastically. "Maybe this will make you feel better." He said as he slammed his foot into my side, sending me back into a tree.
He stormed off and I faintly heard him telling some men to go retrieve me before I blacked out.
KAYDEN's PoV
Stupid cat, I thought to myself. Why is she so provocative? Every time I'm around her-boom- my wolf goes insane.
It doesn't matter though. I'm going to find my mate this week, I'm sure of it.
"Hey! Adam, go retrieve the cat and put her in the loft. She's at the usual place." I told him, not really caring if she gets back safely or about her current condition. I waited there, pulling on a shirt when I head Adam approaching me.
"She's barely breathing. What do we do?"
