Chapter Eighteen

Looking after Evie and Scarlett had been hard but Mia was coping. She had Max helping out all the time. Skyler found it hard too but with the support of the people who mattered she got through it.

That morning, Mia went downstairs and saw Max feeding Scarlett while Evie watching TV. "I come downstairs and see that Cbeebies is on," Mia complained.

"Keeps her happy and if it means that I can feed Scarlett then so be it," Max said. Mia grinned and she sat with Evie.

"You're a very important little girl and if you can get your daddy to put CBeebies on for you then you're so amazingly special," Mia said to the tot.

Evie giggled and pointed at Scarlett. "Baba!"

"Yeah, that's a baby. She's your baby," Mia said. Evie climbed down off the sofa and toddled over to Max.

"My baba pease," Evie said. Max shook his head. "Want my baba," Evie said. She began crying. "Pease."

"No. Go and watch your show."

Evie smacked Max's leg and walked off. "Don't be naughty."

Mia and Skyler were on maternity leave from school. Skyler was coming over with Shayne and Natalia. Tom was coming too.

Max and Mia were sitting on the sofa together. Scarlett was asleep in her moses basket and Evie was sitting with her parents. "I need sleep," Mia mumbled.

"Go and have a lie down. I'm sure I can cope until Skyler and Tom arrive," Max said.

"You sure?"

Max nodded. "Go!"

Mia kissed him before she walked upstairs. She climbed into bed and fell asleep as soon as she hit the pillow.

With Max.

Max sat with Evie and Scarlett. The door bell rang which woke a near sleeping Evie up. "Dada?"

"Shh."

Max answered the door and smiled at Skyler and Tom. "Mia's asleep. I'll wake her up soon."

"Is she okay?" Skyler asked.

"Yeah she's fine. Scarlett keeps us up at night," Max said.

Skyler grinned. "Shayne's the same. Always crying she is. Natalia tells her to shut up."

Max laughed. He took them through to the living room where Evie had fallen asleep standing against her sister's moses basket. Max puck her up and laid her on the sofa.

After an hour or so, Max went to wake Mia. He sat on the bed and kissed her. "What?" she mumbled.

"Tom and Skyler are here," Max said. Mia sat up and groaned.

"I've slept for how long?" she asked.

"An hour and half."

Mia groaned and went downstairs. "Hey chick."

Skyler looked up. "You look tired," She commented.

"That's cause I am. Little madam thinks it's fun to keep mummy and daddy up," Mia mumbled. Skyler stood and hugged Mia.

"Are you alright?"

Mia nodded. "I'm fine. It's much harder with two kids but Max helps."

A Few Hours Later.

Tom noticed how Natalia and Evie were both getting tired. "Maybe we should call it a day. Both of them are knackered," Tom said.

Skyler and Mia agreed both knowing how grouchy Evie got when she hadn't slept enough. The girls swapped babies back and Mia handed Scarlett to Max.

After dinner that night, Tom and Skyler took the kids to bed before they climbed into bed themselves. They were both tired and weren't in the mood for sex. "Night gorgeous," Tom sleepily mumbled.

"Night babe."

Soon after that, Tom and Skyler were asleep.

With Mia and Max.

Mia went to bed while Max checked on Evie and Scarlett. Satisfied they were both okay, he joined his wife in bed. "They okay?" Mia asked as Max undressed.

"They're both sleeping."

Mia grinned and when Max climbed into bed, Mia cuddled into him. "I enjoyed today. It was fun."

"Yeah."

Mia kissed Max before she fell asleep. Max fell asleep not long after her.
