When I was finished my homework, I put on my pyjamas which consisted of only an oversized, black t-shirt and I got up to watch T.V. It was 7:15 and the sun had just set. Only little traces of red lined the sky to show any sign of the sun. I sat in front of the couch and watched reruns of modern family. It was one of my favourite shows. Despite the hilarity of the show, I couldn’t help but think about Ashton. I was thinking about everything I could have possibly done wrong. Was I too straight forward? Did I insult him? I pushed aside the thought again for the 60th time that night and concentrated on the show. That’s when I heard something in the kitchen. I sat up and strained my ears but there was nothing. I slowly stood up, grabbed the closest thing to me, which happened to be a cushion and walked towards the kitchen. I didn’t know how the cushion was going to help; I could swat them into unconsciousness or suffocate them! I decided on the latter and inched towards the kitchen. I peered in but there was nothing there. I felt a small gust of hair that caused my bangs to go flying and then I heard the plants in the living room shake. I sighed and walked to the living room. There was nothing there, as expected. I threw the cushion back on the couch and placed my hands on my hips.
“Ashton, I know it’s you. Come out.” I said in an annoyed tone. After a minute, he stepped out of the shadows. From the low light, I could see that his face was tainted crimson.
“You could have come through the door, you know. I would have opened it for you.” I replied and sat down on the couch. He remained standing. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see him pacing and his hand was going through his hair. I was surprised he didn’t pull out all of it. I gave him some time to work out whatever was bothering him and watched more Modern Family. After a few minutes, he sat down beside me. I took the remote and turned the T.V off, which plunged the room into darkness. I reached over behind Ashton and tried to find the switch for the small reading lamp my Mom sometimes used. I felt his hot breath on my neck from his nearness and it sent shivers up my spine. I couldn’t find the switch so I leaned even closer and rested my hand on his chest so I had a better position. I heard him gasp and his whole body tense and the next thing, I knew, he was on top of me, kissing my neck.
“You need to stop teasing me, love. I don’t know how long I can resist.” He muttered against my skin. I grabbed his face in the dark and pulled t up so I could kiss him. He kissed back hungrily, his hands roamed my skin. He bit down on my lip, asking for permission and I hesitantly gave it to him, not knowing what to expect. His tongue danced with mine and I felt like I was in heaven. After a few minutes, I pushed him away, so I could breathe, he went straight for my neck and I shivered.
“Ashton, we should talk.” I whispered.
“We can talk later, your parents aren’t home. We have lots of time. For now, let me taste you.” He replied and played with the hem of my shirt. His lips traveled to my ear lobe and kissed and bit it.
“I love you so much. I found my missing piece. Don’t ever even think about leaving.” He whispered to me. I couldn’t help but smile. Ashton was so sweet and kind and caring. Sure, he liked to joke a lot but then again, who didn’t?
“Wouldn’t dream of it.” I replied and his lips were back on top of mine. After a few minutes, I pulled away, much to the protest of Ashton.
“Relax, Ashton.” I said and laughed. He gave me one more, long, passionate kiss and then sat down properly beside me. I went to turn the lights on and this time, I went around him and not over. The room brightened to a dim glow and I looked over at Ashton. He had changed his clothes from before and was wearing a grey, y-neck, short sleeved shirt with a black and white picture of the ocean on the front. He also had on straight leg jeans. It was beautiful to behold.
“Sorry, I just can’t help it.” He replied and took my hand in his.
“Now, why were you acting all weird today? I mean I asked you to come in and you shot me down and now you sneak into my house.” I said. Ashton winced as his cheeks turned a bright red colour. I didn’t know vampires could blush. Heck, I didn’t know there were vampires at all before yesterday.
