School that day was awful. I was paranoid beyond reason. Ashton tried to talk to me in every class but I ignored him. There was no way he was going to get the best of me. I could feel those ocean eyes on me in every single class. I knew he was thinking of ways to get to me, to somehow talk to me but I made sure every opportunity he had was shot down. I didn’t want to hear what he had to say. I didn’t want him to come near me. I was terrified of what he would do to me. At the end of the day, I was at my locker, putting away my book happily since I made it through the day alive and well. The hallways were starting to clear out and I knew I better get home quickly.
I shut my locker with a small click and started to walk away when I felt a small breeze. It wasn’t anything major but it was enough to make me stop in my tracks.
“Ashton.” I breathed but there was only silence. “Come out, Ashton.”
I squinted my eyes as I waited, trying to see if Ashton would come or not. Suddenly, he appeared at the end of the hall.
“There is nothing to say Ashton, you should go.” I whispered and I knew full well that he could hear me. Suddenly, he was in front of me.
“You may not have anything to say but I do and you need to listen.” He said sternly. I stared at him, not answering. He took that as a sign that he could go on. He took a step back and ran his hand through his hair as he sighed deeply.
“Okay, the thing with yesterday. Well, I just can’t seem to control myself around you. I was fine before we kissed because I didn’t know what we had but then we kissed and I just saw this whole new side of me come out. The monster you saw yesterday wasn’t me!”
“Then who was it, Ashton?” I asked “Because he had your face and your voice.”
“Okay it was a part of me yes but that was only because I was so mad that you wouldn’t forgive me!”
“But you wouldn’t explain it to me and I don’t want our relationship start off with you feeling like you can do whatever you want. That is not fair. I will stand my ground!” I roared at got up in his face, poking his chest.
“You are so fucking sexy when you’re angry. It turns me on. We should have angry sex when we get back together.” He said as his pupil dilated even more, it that were even possible. I backed away from him, annoyed and angry.
“This is serious, Aston!” I said and he sighed as he nodded.
“Look, just give me another chance to prove myself, please!” he begged. His eyebrows bent up and his eyes looked pained and hurt. The corners of his mouth turned down in hurt. I stared at him for a long time, wondering if I could trust him.
“I can’t.” I said carefully “Sorry.” With that I turned and walked away.
“This won’t be over until I have you, bright eyes.” He said and I could hear the determination in his voice.
“I told you, only those who love me can call me that.” I said coldly. Suddenly, Ashton appeared in front of me.
“I love you a lot more than any pathetic human ever could or ever will.” His eyes were hard and icy. His anger didn’t seem to need much fuel to get bigger. He liked making mountains out of molehills.
“And two of those ‘pathetic humans’ are my parents, Ashton. You just keep on digging yourself deeper. Give up while you still have your dignity.”
“My dignity means nothing when I don’t have you.” He said and I rolled my eyes.
“Just leave me alone.” I said and pushed him out of my way as I left the school.
