Colton's P.O.V

"Hi, I'm Colton it's nice to meet you." I greeted her with an out-stretched hand. She glanced down at my hand and looked back out the window.

"Come on Aspen, give the kid some credit." the driver said. How does the driver know Aspen? Aspen ignored the driver and kept staring out the window.

"Hey, kid come here." the driver patted the the first seat down the alleyway. I stood from my current spot and sat diagonal from him.

"She can be rude and cryptic occasionally, don't take it personally." he reassured.  How does he know her?

"You know her?" I asked.

"Yeah, we met when she first came here, I'm her only friend." he stated.

"Gee thanks Adonis, you make me sound like a loner." Aspen said from behind me.

"That's because you are a loner." said the person I'm assuming is Adonis.

"Well, I guess that makes you one too." she retorted.

"Yeah, you see, I can admit it." he said while he pursed his lips.

"Ha ha, very funny, Donny." Adonis's smile faltered once she spoke.

"Azzy."  she laughed.  After a minute or two Adonis started laughing along with her.  Once the laughs were out of their systems they turned their heads to me.  Adonis then realized he was driving and whipped his head around, so he was facing the front.  He turned the steering wheel just in time to miss a car heading straight for the bus.  The other cars horn started blaring as we sped past the car.

"Whoops, gotta' keep my eyes on the road."  he said.  The flashbacks started running through my head.  The sound of horns honking, screeching tires and shattering glass.  The car tumbling in a spiral, as if it was in the washing machine.  The seat belt crashing into my chest as I slammed forward in the rhythm with the car. My twins sisters cries of pain coming from the passengers seat.  I squeezed my eyes shut, to block out my terrifying past.

Once they were gone, I opened my eyes.  Aspen was now in the seat across of me.  Her hand held against her ear. As if, she was also trying to block out the noise.  Did I say any of that out loud?  No, they are just flashbacks.  She couldn't of heard.

"Here, give me your address, I can bring you straight to your house."  he asked but I was more of an statement.

"Alright, 124 Henders Street."  I answered.  He glanced back at me for a split second, almost taken aback.

"Really?" Aspen asked.  Obviously taken aback.

"Yeah... Why?" I asked curiously.

"I just didn't think anyone lived there other than Patricia and Daniel." she stated more to herself than me.

"You know my Aunt?" I asked getting more curious by the second.

"Yeah, everyone knows everyone around here." Adonis answered for her, laughing nervously.  The rest of the ride was quiet, and I couldn't stop thinking about why they were acting so suspicious.  I get that this town is small and all. But, there are still a lot of people in this town.  And also, who is Daniel?  I remember my mom saying something about Aunt Pat having a boyfriend.  But, I thought she was just trying to encourage me into going willingly.  Well, at first I thought it was real, but the first few days I've been here, there has been no sign of a man living there.  So, I just came to the conclusion that my mom was lying.  It wouldn't be the first time.

Lost in my thoughts not realizing that we've stopped.  I shake my heads, ridding myself of my thoughts and look out my window.  My Aunts house standing there, high and mighty.  And my Aunt standing on the porch, arms crossed.  A scowl rest on her face.  I look back at the only other to people in the bus.  Aspen has her eyes narrowed over at my Aunt.  And Adonis's is smiling slightly at me.  He raised his eyebrows, glancing over at the door.  The door that I now realize is open.  Their waiting for me to get off the bus.  I.  Am.  So.  Stupid.

Way to make a fool of yourself Colton.
