Aspen's P.O.V

The bus was silent.  Adonis's face was portraying the one emotion that I was all to familiar with.  Fear.  We both knew what this meant.  He would poke around in our lives and find things that he wasn't supposed to.  We had just finished settling down and now... We would have to pack up and leave to some other off-the-map town and once again re adjust to the new place.  And it was all my fault.

I had gotten out of my last period class early and rushed down to the waiting bus.  He was surprised at first, but he knew to immediately to brush off my sudden appearance.  I explained everything from the project to my dread about being partnered with Colton.  When we found out that he lived in the same house as Daniel, we knew that he was going to be a problem.  But we stupidly hoped that Daniel would forbid Colton to befriend me.  We were fools, we thought this could work, hiding in the same place as the oh so famous Hunter. But we couldn't, and now, we have to deal with Colton.

Soon, kids started filling he seats in the bus. Adonis and I shared a look that portrayed agreement to continue our conversation later. Dread filled my stomach as Colton stepped onto the bus with his friend. He immediately locked eyes with me. Emotions flashed like a slideshow in his irises. He wanted to talk, but now wasn't the right time. What he did know, was that no time would ever be right.

The bus ride seemed shorter than it usually was, to my dismay.  Like I had guessed he would do, Colton immediately approached me the moment everyone was off the bus.
"Hey..." he hesitated.  He obviously wanted to say more but he didn't know where to start, maybe he'd hoped that I would initiate the conversation.  Ha, fat chance, bucko.  So, like always, I ignored him.

"Umm... I thought that maybe we could work out when you wanted to start working on this project."  He blurted out, most likely forcing himself to say something.  I only looked at him blankly, I admit, I may have given him a hard time but, if you were in my situation wouldn't you?

"Ok, well, I think we should start now and you should come to my house."  He finalized.
"No thanks."  I responded, maybe a little to quickly.
"Why not?" He was suspicious, and I couldn't have that in any circumstance.
"Your Aunt's boyfriend didn't seem to like me very much the last time we saw each other, I'd rather not have a conflict on my hands." I lied.
"Well, then maybe I can go to your house?" He reasoned. Absolutely not.
"No." Straight forward, just the way I like it.  It's always been the best way to make people leave.
"Why not?" He once again asked.
"Because." I had now resorted to just using one word answers, in act another effective way of making people want to leave.
"Because why?" Was he serious?  I looked at him.
"How old are you? Five?" I asked incredulously. He raised an eyebrow and tilted his head like a dog, as if he was saying seriously?

"Then what, pray tell, would you suggest we do? Because I'm not doing this project alone and I assume you would rather not do it yourself either." He inferred. I racked my brain for a secure place that we could meet up at, but I came up blank.
I was about to shrug when Adonis chimed in from the drivers seat, "Why don't you guys go to the library near the park?"
It wasn't a particularly bad idea, Colton didn't seem opposed, only annoyed.
"Fine, whatever, I'll meet you there tomorrow at 3:00, sound good?"  The tone of his voice was hopeful, he obviously wanted to stop dwelling over something so minuscule.
"I guess..." I sighed, already
dreading what was to come.

I walked slowly to the entrance of the newly modelled library. From what I know they only just recently built this building as the other one was falling apart, literally.

I stopped. There it was, my looming death floats through my mind. Maybe I'm exaggerating a tad but so many things could go wrong in this scenario. Colton could accidentally find out, tell Daniel, suddenly Daniel has a valid reason to exterminate me. The reason being a human finding out about the world above, which is a big no no.

I was knocked out of my concerns by someone running by and knocking into me.
"Hey!" I yelled, dumbfounded of the rudeness of some people.
The brown haired man turned around and imagine my surprise when the face of my culprit is the same face as my art project partner.
"Oh! Hey, guess I'm not the only late one." He laughed. I took a quick glance at the big clock on the front of the library. 3:15. Oops.
"Whatever..." I shook my head as we walked silently into the quiet environment.
