Aspen's P.O.V
They stole them, they stole my wings. What did I do wrong? I raked through my brain trying to remember what I did to lose my wings. But stopped immediately when the ground beneath me began to shake. I looked around the big white room. The room was empty and everything was white, the floor, the walls, and even the roof. Nothing. There was nothing in this room to save me from the inevitable. My shoulder blades screamed with pain once again as if something was growing again. No, that couldn't be right. When an angels fall they loose their wings for good. My thought was cut of as another wave of excruciating pain came over me. This time I couldn't hold my scream back. My head snapped up and my eyes squeezed shut. I couldn't stop screaming. This wasn't normal. This isn't supposed to go like this. The pain is supposed to stop once the wings are no longer there. But it didn't it just kept getting worse and worse.
My screams filled the rooms silenced as the waves kept coming, always stronger than the others. I felt a thick liquid fall down my face. At first, I thought they were tears, but when I wiped my hand over them my hand was covered in blood. My eyes widen in horror, my hands began to shake from terror and the grounds constant vibrations. That thought brought me back to the ground. There was a slight crevasse starting to form on my far left. The liquid and the pain continued on.
The pain started subsiding when the crevasse was almost at the other end of the floor. I hastily whipped my hand back to feel what was causing me so much pain.
Feathers.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. What? My head snapped to get a visual of the unusual thing that was happening. Pitch black feathers made into strong framed wings. My wings are supposed to be white. Suddenly I started falling, I tried flying but the pain was unbearable. I'm not surprised, they just extended, at least one thing was normal.
I continued falling and falling and falling. I kept thinking if this is what I've been left with, falling for eternity?
I closed my eyes, liking the feeling of the wind on my new and improved wings. I wasn't going to lie, I liked these better than before but I prefer the colour white. But, I'll get used to it. I started going faster and opened my eyes to see what was going on. My eyes were met with the sight of Earth. I was falling down to Earth. The closer I got the faster I went, flames started dancing along the front of my body. I was hurdling towards Earth at a speed no one should have to endure. This is supposed to happen, but I'm not supposed to be going this fast.
The flames started to bite at my newly sprouted wings. And the pain was all I could think about. I screamed hoping no one would hear me. I got lower and lower faster and faster. All I could see was forest, no humans around. Perfect. I but the pain aside for a minute and put my legs out forward. My feet hit the ground first and I attempted to lessen the damage of the forest by skidding. But, I slipped and abruptly stopped, my back slamming into a tree. I screamed in pain as I slid down the side of the trunk. My breathing was jagged, I got to sit after what felt like ours.
I closed my eyes and let the tears of pain fall as fast as they could. But, the longer I cried the thicker the tears became. The usual burn from tears was much worse, as if they were actually burning my eyes. I wiped my eyes and opened them. The dampness that I thought were tears felt oddly grainy. I glanced at my hands and they weren't tears, it was blood. I crawled towards a nearby stream. When I was about to dip my hands in the water, I noticed something weird with my eyes. There was dried blood going down my cheeks which was to be expected but, my eyes were black. I looked in horror as I began to scream. What was happening to me?
I jolted awake, screaming, drenched in sweat, my pillow damp from the tears still streaming down my face.
I will never be able to get rid of that night, even if I wanted to or not.
