Chapter 2

Arizona's POV

  Callie has been even more miserable than me lately. I want to talk her about the Penny situation, but I don't want her to think that I'm going to break her and Penny up (Though I really want to). As long as I don't say anything that raises suspicion, then I should be fine. I take a deep breath and approach her. 

  "Hi Callie." A shaky breath escapes from her. "Hey Arizona. Listen right now is not a really good time. I don't mean to sound rude, but I just can't handle anything else going wrong." A boost of confidence runs through me and I grab a hold of her arm. "Callie, just because you and aren't an item anymore doesn't mean that we can't. You're still one of my best friends. I care about your well being and I'm here for you." 

 She gives me a small smile. "Thank you Arizona. I guess letting things out would be good for me. Can we go somewhere private though?" "Of course. I know the perfect place." I lead her to a quiet fire escape.  We sit down and Callie begins to open up to me.  "Arizona, I don't even know where to begin on how badly I messed up. I've damaged Amelia and Meredith beyond repair. They are just barely hanging on. Amelia's been acting like she's on the verge of suicide and Meredith is an empty shell who occasionally breaks out into rages as bad as the Incredible Hulk. I'm starting to think that dating Penny was a mistake."

   "Callie, it's not your fault. You didn't know that Penny was there the night Derek died. You only just found out a couple weeks ago." She sighs. "I guess I could give it a little more time and see if things approve around the hospital. If not, then I'm going to have to break up with Penny. I don't want the people I love most to hate me. That would be unbearable." I pat her knee. "You didn't even need my help. You figured it out by yourself, you always do." "Thank you for listening Arizona. I hope I didn't waste any of your time." "Callie, you never waste my time. I'm here whenever you need me okay." She nods. We say our goodbyes for now and get back to work. As I head back to the Peds floor, I can't help  but smile knowing that Callie and I talked without arguing for the first time in ages.
