"What do you think?" Becca asked, emerging nervously from the changing room. She was wrapped  in a floaty green dress that accentuated her slight figure. Dani nodded enthusiastically.

"That looks great," she said. To make up for their argument, Dani had agreed to go dress shopping with Becca. Not that she was planning on going to the dance, but it had mended the gap between them.

"We'll put it in the 'maybe' pile," Becca mused, looking critically at her reflection. "Your turn. Try on that navy one next!"

Dani heaved herself to her feet and hobbled into the dressing room. She pulled on the knee length dress Becca had suggested. She had to hitch up the top because it kept slipping. She walked out, still holding onto the top.

"Definitely not," Becca decided. "How about this one?" She held up a shiny orange dress. Dani made a face.

"It looks like a pumpkin,"

"A glamorous pumpkin," Becca amended. "Come on, it'd look great against your eyes."

Dani slipped it on. She felt like a neon nightmare, the dress leeching color right out of her already pale skin.

"Nah," she announced, reemerging in her normal clothes. "Let's just focus on what you're going to wear on your date with Jaacksoonn," she teased.

"Ha! Put down another point!" Danny gasped, collapsing onto the sofa next to Dani.

"Who was it tonight?" Dani said, resigned to the huge lead he was gaining.

"Skullker. Twice in one week. That's persistent, even for him," Danny said, popping his back.

Dani put a tally mark under Skullker's name. Since her leg had broken, Danny had defeated and caught four ghosts. That put him in the lead of their personal rivalry. She'd have to make up some serious ground once she was healed.

For a moment, Dani considered putting in a new entry for Gage. She had caught him hadn't she? But that didn't feel quite fair. He had basically come right up to her. She turned to Danny, meaning to tell him about last night. But the words just wouldn't come. What would she say?

"Yeah, no big deal. A boy just came to my room for two nights in a row. Funny story, turns out he's a ghost. Want salt on your popcorn?"

No. It wasn't a big deal and Danny had enough to deal with.

She could keep it to herself.
