"Well I'll be. You're more resilient than I would have expected. Recently dead I assume?" Vlad inquired, looking up from the controls.

Gage hung limply, eyes squeezed shut.

Danny looked wildly between Vlad, Dani, and Gage. With every activation of the machine Gage seemed to lose a little more energy. It wasn't controlling him. It was draining him.

"Well you know the saying!" Vlad commented cheerfully. "If at first you don't succeed-" he turned back to the controls, "try try again."

Behind Vlad's back, Danny locked eyes with Dani. She looked at him blankly. He widened his eyes, silently pleading her to do something. Vlad cranked the power back on.

Gage screamed. His muscles locked as he strained fruitlessly against the bindings. Electricity arced across his taut form, and his eyes flashed with yellow light. Dani stiffened for a moment, her eyes darting to Gage.

Sensing his chance, Danny yelled,

"Dani! You know him. You know me! I know you can break free of this."

Dani clenched her eyes shut, jerking her head back and forth.

"You're my sister. You're a Fenton! We came after you because we care about you. Please! Help-"

Vlad cranked the machine higher, drowning out Danny's voice with Gage's screams. Lightning flashed around the lab, making the air metallic and charged.

Dani shook her head vigorously, trying to drown out the noise and conflicting voices.

"Come back!" Danny shouted, putting everything he could into those two words.

As Gage gave one last spasm in his bonds, Dani's eyes cleared.

She slashed her hand through the air, sending a bolt of energy into Vlad and through the controls. With a grinding, shrieking wail, the machine threw electricity around the room. Vlad was hurled across the room, lending in a heap against the wall. The machine gave a last sparking groan before shutting off, taking the rest of the lights with it.

In the darkness, Danny could see Dani's faintly glowing form. She stood as if she didn't know what had just happened. But her glowing eyes were her own.

"Dani!" he cried in relief. She hurried over and began to untie him.

"No, not me!" he protested, trying to shrug her off. "Gage! Where's Gage?"
