"What are we doing? What's going on?" Gage yelled at Danny, speeding along beneath him. He didn't respond, flying at breakneck speed.

Gage went intangible to avoid crashing into every obstacle in the way. Sick worry had settled over him. He hadn't known Dani for very long... but dang it! He cared about what happened to her!

"At least tell me what that feather was all about," he called, going straight through a car as they crossed a highway.

"Go away! You're out of your element," Danny snapped, speeding up to try and get farther ahead.

"I'm not going anywhere." Gage yelled. "She has to know there's at least someone she can count on."

"She can count on me!" Danny growled, a dangerous light flashing in his eyes as he glared down at Gage. "What do you know about her?"

Gage kicked viciously off the ground, keeping pace with Danny.

"I know enough!I know that she's a clone. I know that she feels like she doesn't belong.  So stop running and tell me what's going on so I can HELP!"

Danny stopped abruptly in mid flight. Gage skidded to a surprised stop beneath him. The half ghost fixed him with a searching look.

"She told you that?"

Gage nodded.

Danny bit his lip. He glanced helplessly around at the empty night sky. He looked so lost, floating in the air. Slowly he floated down to Gage.

"Alright," he sighed.

"That feather is from a group of ghost vultures controlled by Vlad Plasmius. He's the guy who created Dani. He's smart, obsessive, and has tried to kill her more than once."

Gage squared his shoulders.

"So what? You catch ghosts all the time. Just suck him into your little ghost can and we'll be done."

Danny shook his head slowly.

"One other detail... He's a half ghost too. And I've never actually beat him in a straight fight before."

Gage swallowed. From his, admittedly limited, knowledge of ghosts, half ghosts seemed to hold the most power. A fight with one could end with a fate worse than banishment to the ghost zone. But... Dani.

"Then it's a good thing it won't be a straight fight," Gage replied. "Because I'm coming too."
