Chapter 7

It was Saturday morning and I was relieved, I got to sleep in late and had made plans to get to the gym; the gym was calling my name desperately. I was still uneasy about seeing Jordan at school, but ever since I saw him at the school parking lot, I haven’t run into him and I was thankful, he was and will always be the reason for my brother’s loss.

I got out of bed and made my towards Victoria’s room, I crept in slowly and saw she was sleeping peacefully clutching her pooh bear teddy bear I gave her when she was 5. I made my way over to her bed, and stroked her hair gently.

“Wake up princess, I’m making breakfast for you today” I said gently

“Chocolate chip pancakes?” she asked still sleepy but with a hint of excitement.

“Yes, with syrup and strawberries”

“Okay, I’m up” she said happily and got out bed, and jumped on my back.

“Does the princess want a piggy back ride? I said, tickling her feet, which made her start giggling

“Yess” she said, and as on cue, I made my way to the kitchen laughing along the way with Victoria. As I got breakfast ready Victoria sat down on the sofa and started watching cartoons.

“Sis, are you still taking me to Sonny’s house?” she asked with a smile. I had completely forgotten my mom had asked me to take her today, since she had to work early this morning.

“Yes, sweetheart I’ll take you, what time do you want me to drop you off?”

“At 1:00, Sonny’s mom is making us chocolate chip cookies today” she said excited. Victoria had become great friends with Sonny, Sonny had been over our house multiple times and Victoria has gone to his house multiple times.  We ate breakfast and washed up, I was planning on still going to the gym after I dropped off Victoria, so I changed into my workout gear, and put on running shoes. Mom had told me how to get to Sonny’s house and told me what time to pick Victoria up; if I were to ask Victoria she would stay there all day. We finally reached Sonny’s house and were knocking on his door,

“Remember princess be polite and don’t forget to say thank you, okay?” I told her making sure she remembered her manners. Just as she nodded, the door opened and I saw the last person I expected to see,   Joey. He was wearing a white tank top that fit his body like a glove, and beige cargo shorts, with a basketball hat, he looked…

“Hi Victoria, how are you? He asked sweetly looking at her.

“Hi Joey! “She seemed happy and began to introduce me to him.

“Sis, this is Joey, Sonny’s brother” she looked at me and looked back at him.

“Hi, Joey” I said awkwardly

“Hi, Daisy “he said smirking realizing how surprised I was that he was Sonny’s brother out of all people.

“Sweetheart, Sonny is waiting for you inside, he didn’t want to eat the cookies without you” he said to Victoria and she lit up like a star.

“Bye sis love you” she said as she gave me a kiss on the cheek and made her way inside. I was left outside with Joey, which was very uncomfortable.

“So you are the beautiful big sister that Victoria is always talking about?” he said smiling

I was taken aback from his comment, I was somewhat rude to him the last time we talked and I had felt bad, so decided to apologize.

“Look Joey, I’m sorry for being rude to you the other day, it wasn’t my intention” I said genuinely sorry.

“I understand” he said seeming convinced
