“Hi, welcome to Sweet Treatz how can I satisfy your sweet tooth?” my smile was from ear to ear and I couldn’t mask how happy I was to see that face. “Daisy!” Victoria said as she ran towards me with her arms extended, she hugged me tightly as I started to laugh. “Hi there princess, I’m so happy you came to visit me” I returned the hug just as tight as she was holding me and gave her a small kiss on her forehead. “I know, I told Joey to bring me over here because I wanted to see you” she said as she looked up at me with her bright green eyes, I looked over at Joey who was standing off to the side, he looked- , “Not true, she wanted to come because of the cupcakes” he smirked as he made his way towards us. Victoria started to laugh “Maybe I was a little hungry Daisy” she said innocently. I was happy to see them, but for an instant I forgot I was still at work and I hadn’t introduced Max, to my sister and Joey.

I turned to face Max, “Max, this is my little sister Victoria, Victoria this is my boss say hello”. Victoria politely went over to Max and shook his hand, “Hi Max”, Max knelt down and smiled as he shook her small fragile hand, “Hello Victoria, it’s very nice to meet you”, “and I take it this young fella is your boyfriend Daisy?” I looked at Max with wide eyes and lowered my head to hide the sudden redness to my cheeks; I couldn’t believe he would think that! I mean he could be a friend, or a driver, or a relative or, I heard joey speak up as I was brought back to reality “No sir, we are just friends; I’m Joey nice to meet you”. I was thankful for his words and I felt my cheeks cool down; I slowly lifted my head to see Max and Joey shaking hands and conversed in a conversation.

“Daisy, why are you blushing?” I looked down to see Victoria looking at me intently, she was grinning and I was at a loss of words. “No, I’m not blushing sweetheart it’s just umm, it’s really hot in here and I just, got out of the bakery, and it was really hot, that’s all”.  She looked at me and didn’t look satisfied with my answer; she winked and whispered “It’s okay, I won’t tell Joey you like him”.

After 30 minutes of nerve wrecking feelings in my tummy, Joey and Victoria left with 4 cupcakes and a smile on their face. I still couldn’t shake what Victoria told me, I didn’t like Joey, heck I didn’t like any of the male species to be exact, but I found myself stuttering when Joey was there which was very odd of me.

“Are you okay there, seems like you’re thinking too hard, I can see smoke coming out of your head” Max stated as he brought me back to the present. “Yea, just thinking that’s all” I smiled at him to reassure it was nothing serious but he gave me a look of oh please, try again.  “It’s nothing I’m serious” I reassured him, not wanting to bring up my personal life during work. Max looked at me weird, but dropped the topic, which I was thankful for. It was nearing closing time, and I couldn’t have been more excited, I was exhausted even if it was from just sitting here all day. Max and I closed up the store and parted ways. “Goodnight Max, have a nice night” I said before I left, “Goodnight Daisy, see you tomorrow”. I made my way home, ready to shower and hit the hay. It was pretty late so I figured everyone would be getting ready for bed. I arrived home, just as I saw my dad as well just arriving. It was nearly 10:30, why was he getting home so late? I got out of my car and made my way over to his, he was startled to see me and looked almost guilty, as if I caught him doing something bad. “Daisy, what, what are you doing out here” he stuttered as he tried looking calm. “Umm, I just got back from work, why are you just getting home? He looked at his watch and started chuckling “Well, look at that you are absolutely right it is late, why don’t we go inside” he was acting weird and I didn’t like it, it was as if he was hiding something, and since I was so tired and exhausted I didn’t drop the conversation.

“Care to explain what’s going on dad?” I stood in his way in case he tried getting out, he looked at me confused and shook his head, “Daisy I am tired and had a long day at work , please don’t start one of your little tantrums right now.” “You think I’m having a tantrum? That’s what it is? Why have you been acting so weird lately?” I shouted, completely forgetting the fact that we lived in a gated community and our neighbors were pretty old. “Cut it out Daisy! I am not going to have this discussion with you outside in the middle of the night” he said as he raised his voice and starred at me clearly upset. You aren’t going to get out of this one so easy dad, I thought. “Are you having an affair?” I blurted out the first thing that came to mind, his eyes nearly popped out of his eye sockets, but I still needed an answer, “Are you out of your mind Daisy! For heaven’s sake, I love you and your mom and sister very much to do something like that to you guys” his voice softened as he said the last sentence, and I knew that was a ridiculous accusation to make. “I had a late meeting sweetie, that is all we are going over the all the evidence we have for an upcoming case and I stayed later to help out”. I wasn’t sure whether to believe him or not but opted to anyways. He grabbed my hand and gave it a kiss, “Daisy I love you guys too much, please don’t think I would throw all that away”. “I know dad, I’m sorry” I moved out of the way so he could get through and we made our way inside.
