Chapter 6

Logan's pov

"Logan have you ever heard of the forgiveness project?" Mr. Matthews asked in class.

"Oh you mean forgiving people?" I asked and he nodded.

"Sort of." he started.

"Oh funny you mentioned that because forgiveness never works." I told him.

"Sure it does!" Farkle said.

"Zay and I forgave Farkle for spoiling the endings of the movie." Lucas told me.

"And I forgave my brother for biting my bears face off." Riley added.

"And I forgave myself." Maya said.

"I would forgive, but not when it doesn't work." I explained Mr. Matthews.

"Assignment time!" he cheered and walked to his desk. The class groaned, except Farkle who cheered.

"Maya, Farkle, Zay, Lucas, and Riley. You 5 are going to make sure Logan forgives someone, whether it's herself or someone else. Succeed and the whole class won't have homework for a week. Fail, and you do." he explained and we agreed.

"Mr. Matthews?" I raised my hand.

"Yes Logan?" he called on me.

"I forgive you for giving us this assignment." I forgave him.

"Not working." he said and the bell rang.

-

"Ok Logan, who do you want to forgive?" Lucas asked.

"My "sisters"" I told them, putting quotes around sisters.

"Ok, so go out there and forgive them! We'll be right behind you!" Maya cheered and I grabbed the stupid letter I wrote to them and we all walked onto the subway.

"Ok, here." I built up the courage and handed Kalani the note.

"Dear Kalani, Chloe, Maddie, Kendall, Nia, and Jojo. I forgive you for everything you have done to hurt me. Logan." she read off and I nodded.

"Like we care. We don't want stupid forgiveness from you." Jojo spat and they left.

"Well, that did not go as planned." Zay said and we agreed.

"Logan did you really forgive them?" Lucas asked.

"No." I sighed and ran my hands through my hair. "Why is this harder than it looks?"

"No idea, but let's brainstorm." Farkle sighed and we walked back to Topanga's.

-

"WHat about Ms. Zimmer?" Farkle asked.

"Blech. She'll be even worse!" I told him and they agreed.

"Your parents." Riley figured out.

"Great idea! Except I have no idea who they are." I told her.

"Forgiveness doesn't have to be face to face." Maya told me.

"Fine, I'll try." I sighed, just wanting to get the assignment done and over with.

"Dear mom and dad, You might not know me, and I don't know you. Since you've left it hurt me. I never understood, but I shrugged it off. And I forgive you for leaving and everything. Love Logan." I wrote down.

"That still doesn't sound like forgiveness." Farkle told me.

"But it is." I snapped.

"No it's not. You don't forgive anyone you named." he said.

"Well what a I supposed to do? How can I forgive them when all they do is hurt me?" I asked.

"You...can't." Riley realized and I nodded.

"Yeah, exactly." I sighed.

"Wow, that is a plot twister." Zay admitted.

"There is no way to do the assignment then." Farkle thought out loud.

"Then what do we do?" Maya asked.

"That's not it." Lucas told us.

"Who else is there?" I asked.

"Yourself." he said and I looked at him confused.

"Huh?" I asked.

"Logan you need to forgive yourself. You are blaming yourself for this, forgive yourself because none of this is your fault." he told me.

"But I already have. I am fine with how I am." I told him.

"No you're not, I can see it in your eyes." Lucas said.

"I'll try." I sighed.

-

"Ok, how do I forgive myself?" I asked and paced around my bedroom.

"Logan this isn't your fault. Just because everyone you live with hates you and your parents gave you up, doesn't mean there is anything wrong with you." I told myself. "Oh who am I kidding!? This is all my fault!"

-

Walking into Topanga's on Saturday and seeing your teacher, not what I planned.

"Logan, project. How's it coming?" he asked.

"Just fail me already and give the homework." I sighed and sat down by Zay.

'What!?" everyone asked.

"I failed, there is no one I can forgive." I told them.

"Logan not even yourself?" Riley asked.

"No, that is one person I can never forgive." I told her.

"Logan none of it is your fault! You parents, those girls, Ms. ZImmer, none of it!" Lucas said.

"I'm sorry, but it's just not possible. I stayed up all night and failed." I told him.

"I am so confused." Mr. Matthews said.

"It's nothing. Just give me an 'F'." I said a little too quickly.

"Logan if you don't tell him I will." Farkle said.

"Farkle you promised!" I exclaimed and stood up, along with him.

"Seeing your hurt like this, I have to break the promise. Either you say it or I will." he warned.

"Farkle, if you tell anyone I will never speak to you again." I told him making him stop.

"Then it's a risk I will take to keep you happy. Are you?" he asked and I turned my back around and crossed my arms.

"Mr. Matthew deserves to know. Guys help me out here!" Farkle argued.

"I'm with Farkle." Riley and Zay agreed.

"No way! It's Logan's decision we can't force her!" Maya argued and Lucas agreed.

"It will be best, but it's not our place to tell." Lucas added.

"It's hurting her!" Riley said.

"Logan wants this between us and that will just break our trust. It's up to her." Maya explained.

"Can you see how this is hurting her!? This is for the best!" Zay argued.

"What?" Mr. Matthews asked.

"Logan is an orphan." RIley spilled the beans.

"Her sisters hate her." Zay added.

"She thinks everything is her fault." Farkle finished. Mr. Matthews stood there shocked and I grabbed my bag.

"I'm never speaking to you guys again." I sighed and left.
