Chapter 43

Riley's pov

"Hey." I smiled.

"Hi."

"Did you tell him?" I asked and Maya sat down by me.

"Yeah, I felt it was necessary." she said and I nodded in agreement.

"I still wish he fell for me." I sighed and looked down. Maya sighed in response and put an arm around me, then I leaned my head on her shoulder.

"I know Riles." she said, "It'll work out."

"Thanks peaches." I smiled and she giggled lightly.

"No problem."

Lucas' pov

"What are you doing here?" Logan asked.

"I came to talk to you." I smiled and she looked around.

"I thought you, Zay, and Farkle agreed not to do that until I choose-"

Why should I listen to them?" I asked. "They both told you what they get, why can't I?"

"Lucas-" Logan sighed.

"I'm not making you choose me," I told her and she nodded.

"I know, I just don't want you getting in trouble." she explained.

"I don't care anymore." I grabbed her hand into mine and looked her in the eyes. Her brown eyes were filled with worrisome of what could happen, but my eyes said different, reassuring her everything would be alright. "Logan, I've always-" I started.

"What's going on?" a voice interrupted my moment. The moment I've been waiting for, the one that was just about to happen. It was interrupted.

I turned around and saw Farkle standing there.

"Farkle!" Logan gasped in surprise.

"What's going on!?" he asked louder.

"I was telling Logan how I felt." I said frankly. "And you interrupted."

"We agreed-" he started, then we heard whistling, then a gasp.

"What are you two doing here!?" Zay asked and I rolled my eyes.

"Lucas is cheating!" Farkle said and Zay gasped.

"Then why are you two here?" I asked and crossed my arms.

"A walk." Farkle told me.

"At eight at night?" I questioned, not believing him for a second. Farkle looked down, then avoided eye contact with me.

"Don't you three see? This is ruining everything!" Logan shouted.

"Logan-" I sighed.

"No, I can't take this anymore. If you are gonna make me choose, I can't. I can't stand to ruin this anymore, I;m breaking you apart. We can't be together for five seconds without someone going mad!" she yelled at us.

"Logan it's not your fault-" I tried to explain.

"I can't deal with this right now, I'm sorry. I'm choosing friendship." she was about to slam the door, but I stopped her.

"Hear me out Log, you heard them out."

"Lucas, just leave me alone." she told me strictly.

"I can't! Logan, I've liked you since you came here. Since you've come to me with all of your problems. We can have a real conversation, you make me happy." I told her.

"We're freshman Lucas.' she told me.

"I don't care! That's how I feel!" I told her.

"I'm going to bed, goodnight." she told me and I let her close the door. I turned around and pushed back Farkle and Zay, who were watching the whole thing.

Why can't this just be easy?
