Chapter 44

Riley's pov

"See, you guys are really nice, but it's just too much for her to handle." I explained.

"Why can't she just make a decision?" Zay asked. "She's had plenty of time to think about it."

"No she hasn't." Maya scoffed. "You three are putting way too much pressure on her."

"Bu-" Farkle started, but Lucas cut him off.

"Maybe we should just back off for awhile and not mention it."

"Exactly." I nodded and smiled at him, making him smile back.

"Fine, but we all have to agree." Zay said and the guys looked at each other."

"Alright, deal." Farkle and Lucas agreed.

"I'm gonna home, Mya?" I asked and she nodded.

"Let's go." she gabbed her jacket and we left. S we walked up the stairs, she started to talk, "You're handling this really well."

"Yeah, but it's still hard." I sighed. "I thought it was meant to be, but I was obviously wrong."

"It'll get better Riles." she reassured me and I looked over at her with eyes that showed no emotion.

"How do you know?"

"I just do." she smiled and I half smiled back.

Logan's pov

I sat in my room staring at my phone. Should I make the call? Should I talk to him again? Should I give him another chance? What about all the ties he's hurt me? People do change people, but is it still a good idea? Maybe this was all a mistake. I shouldn't call him, but I found myself holding the phone and clicking in the contact. I held the phone up to my ear and after five rings, he finally picked up.

"Hello?" his voice filled my ear. It reminded me of memories, but also made me relax, knowing nothing could go wrong. We were just friends, there was nothing that could be messed up with friendship, well I thought.

"Hey, do you want to hang out? Like we talked about?" I asked nervously. I could feel him smile on the other line and heard his breath relax a little.

"Yeah, I'd love to. Wanna meet at central park?"

"Sure." I agreed. After saying goodbye, I hung up and grabbed my side purse. I threw my jacket on, then the purse and went downstairs. Shawn wasn't home, so that meant I had to leave a note just in case he got home before me. I wrote that I was going to meet someone at the park and that I would be home around five, then I slid on my bots and left.

After a ten minute walk to the park, I finally arrived and looked around. I didn't see him, so I sat down on the bench and pulled out my phone to text, but then felt a presence behind me. I felt my nerves take over, thinking it was my father. I quickly turned around and saw Charlie there, making me sigh in relief.

"You scared the crap out of m!" I said, making om laugh.

"Sorry, my mom kept asking questions and wouldn't let me leave."

"You're good," I smiled and stood up. "Where should we go?"

"Just take a walk around? Look around at the snow?"

"Sure." I agreed and we walked around. Charlie talked to me about his mom and family while I listened.

"Wow, you have a large family." I said and he nodded.

"Well that's enough about me, what about you? I know you were adopted by Shawn, but that's it."

"Well I have no idea about my mother, that has remained a mystery."  I explained and he nodded.

"What about your father?"

"I don't really know." I lied, not wanting to talk about the guy who is always following me around. I never have told anyone, he is my secret and no one else's.

"Wow, your life seems complex." he exclaimed and I chuckled lightly.

"Yeah, it's a mystery even to me." I told him and he nodded.

"Obviously."

"We should do this more often." I said and he nodded.

"Yeah, we should."

A/N: It's been awhile since I've updated! But who saw that coming? Who expected Charlie?
