"Sad hopes I'd hidden under, tangled inside of me." ~ Thunder Clatter (Chelsea Cutler Cover)

I heard the original one first (Wild Cub) but this version was so good.

Chapter Four

I regret going to the first day with Liam.

The original plan was that Monica and I were suppose to go together. Last night she caught the flu and couldn't make it today. She even got Liam's number from my phone to tell him to take me on my first day.

This morning when I met Liam by the door, he gave me a smile and acted as if nothing happened yesterday between us.

"So what's the first thing in your schedule?"

"I have orientation the whole day today and a tour around campus." I told him.

He hiked his bag on his shoulder. "My tour was totally better." He mumbled. "Have you eaten?"

"Just toast. I accidentally woke up late and took most of my time in the shower."

"Well we could always take out some sandwiches from Marcy's." He offered me a smile.

We reached Marcy's and the line was long. Liam grabbed my hand and said, "Come on. We can get our order in five minutes."

We walked towards the claiming area when Liam called over one of the baristas. "Hey Marcus! Think you could make a quick fix?"

"Liam, buddy! What do you want?" Marcus gave Liam a fist bump and then noticed me. "And who are you? I take it you're a freshman?"

"What gave it away?" I crossed my arms.

"You're a new face around here. And you got this fresh-out-of-high-school look. I'm Marcus." He held out his hand.

"I know." I grinned and shook his hand. "I'm Ashley."

"Anyways, we need two grilled cheese sandwiches. Put some ham in mine and maybe two cappuccinos?" Liam looked over at me and I just nodded.

I was about to give Marcus the money when he stopped me. "It's on me." He gave a small smile. "A friend of Liam's is a friend of mine. Don't worry, I do this all the time with him and Caleb. Don't tell the others about it."

Two minutes later we left the coffee shop and headed towards my orientation. "Well he was nice." I said as I took a bite from the sandwich. "This has got to be the best grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had."

"Try it with ham next time." He chuckled. "Marcus and I go way back. We were neighbors since we were kids. Now that he knows you, he's got your back."

We didn't talk much after that. Instead we just walked around and ate our sandwiches. I noticed some girls scowling at me. I just shrugged it off and walked with Liam.

Liam must be oblivious to all the girls glaring at me. I, on the other hand, couldn't take it any longer.

"You're popular with the ladies." I threw the plastic that held my sandwich in the trash.

"What makes you say that?"

"Ever since we walked out of Marcy's I see girls sending me invisible daggers. It's like they're out to get me. You must've done something to them that made them this way." I chuckled.
