Chapter Nine

"So you're telling me," Monica said slowly, "that you're dating Liam now?"

"Yes," I told her, not taking my eyes off the book I'm reading.

All of a sudden the book flew from my hands, landing a few feet away from on the grass and a hand thumped me at the back of my head. "Ow! What the hell?"

"Don't you hear yourself? You're dating Liam!" She crossed her arms.

"You're the one who told me to get out there and meet someone new! You even said that I should try things with Liam," I reached for my book and scowled at her.

"Well that was before Caleb showed up," she sighed. "Didn't you think about the time when you and Caleb ditched Marcus and I? I can see it in your face that night that you had a great time with him,"

"I know I'll have a great time with Liam too,"

Monica say up in front of me and said," I do want you to be happy, I really do. And you look happy when you're with Caleb. As your best friend, I will understand if you continue dating Liam. Sorry for slapping your book by the way,"

"It's fine,"

"I do have a question though?" She says.

"What is it?"

"Do you think Caleb already knows? Since he's roommates with Liam and all?"

"I really don't know," I shrugged my shoulders. "And besides, he has Heather now, so he's probably too busy to care or anything. I wouldn't worry about that,"

Monica just looked at me, as if she wants to say something more, but she shook her head and laid down on the grass.

Warm hands then covered eyes and I was met with darkness. "Hey,"

I clasped the culprit's hands and took them away. Spinning around, Liam was looking down at me showing his pearly whites. "Hi," I said back.

"Hey Monica, you don't mind if I steal Ashley for a few hours right?"

A faint smile was on her lips and nodded. "Go on ahead lover boy, bring her back in one piece or I'm getting my hidden shotgun,"

"Awesome, thanks," he flashes her a smile and holds both my hands, helping me up.

"So where are you bringing me for a few hours?" I asked as we walked towards the parking lot.

"It's sort of a surprise," he says and opens the door. "I'm sure thirty more minutes won't mind?"

"At least tell me where we're headed," I told him, not yet getting in the car.

"All you need to know for now is that we're headed to the city,"

Once we reached the city, Liam didn't stop until we were parked in front of a restaurant.

Walking towards the entrance, through the window, I see people dressed in expensive clothing. Adults of different ages were filled inside the restaurant and not a single teenager was inside. Looking down at my plain blue jeans and white sweater, I tugged on Liam's sleeve, only to notice he's wearing smart casual.
