Chapter Eighteen

I woke up to light touches on my skin. My eyes are still closed, but Caleb's fingers still continue to run his hands on my back. I nuzzled my face deeper into my pillow, until I heard him chuckle.

I opened one eye and saw him looking down at me. Part of his hair was falling on his face, and a stream of light was on his face.

"Don't laugh at me." I mumbled, and closed my eyes for a moment.

"I can't help it," he says, his deep voice ringing in my ears. "My touch still tickles your skin."

"Yeah, well that's nice of you to notice," I turned and laid down on my back to look at the ceiling then turned to him. "How long have you've been awake?"

"Long enough to watch you sleeping," Caleb leaned back against the headboard. "Did you know that you still drool in your sleep?"

My hand immediately touched the place near my lips, looking for signs of drool, but when I find out there was none, I narrowed my eyes at him. "You're mean in the morning."

"Well you're beautiful in the morning," He countered and crossed his arms as he looked at me.

"With bed head and all?"

"Bed head, drool, you still look great." Caleb reached for his phone on my bedside table. Once he saw the time, he shot up from the bed. "Shit! I have to go, I'm late for practice. Coach is gonna kill me."

Caleb started to grab his shoes and as he laced each shoe, he walked over to me and knelt down to be eye level with me. "I wanted to stay some more and ditch practice but since we got in the finals, training is going to be busy as ever."

"That's fine." I told him. Although a part of me wanted him to really stay, but I know that in the back of my mind, it wasn't the right thing to do. At least not yet.

"I'll talk to you later, I promise." He got up and kissed my forehead, lingering there for more than a second. The warmth of his lips was gone after that and gave me one last look before he headed out of my room.

"I'll walk you out," I called after him, pulling the sheets off my legs. Walking in step with him, we both reached the door to my apartment. Caleb opened the door, but before he could step out, he looked at me and said, "You really look beautiful in the morning."

Without wasting time, he closed the door behind him, leaving me blushing at the door. My heart was doing funny things in my chest, and I probably looked like an idiot just standing by the door in the morning.

"Well this is quite a morning."

I jumped and turned around to see Monica sitting on the couch, a cup of coffee in hand. She sips dramatically before putting a knowing look on her face.

"What the hell, Monica?"

"I can't help it," she shrugged. "It's fun to watch you get all jumpy."
