Chapter Fifteen
Hearing the shower run when I was seated on a chair in the kitchen area made me feel uneasy. Even it was moments ago, I could picture Caleb's deep and dark eyes as he told me we'll have a talk.
I know what it'll be about and I know for sure that it would change things once again. Looking around, I tried to think of something to keep my heart at ease. It's been feeling quite jumpy and I'm guessing it's from nervousness and the other part of me thinks it's because of Caleb.
The soup he made earlier was still in the kitchen counter, so I pushed my back my chair and poured the soup on both bowls that he prepared. I opened a few drawers to look for his utensils, and when I finally did, I grabbed two of them and placed one on each bowl. When I heard the shower stopped running, I set on down in front of me and the other one on the opposite side of me.
I heard the door to Caleb's room close, and then his footsteps on the wooden floorboards. Once he was in clear view, he was wearing some pajama pants and a t-shirt. He had a small towel in his hand and used it to dry his still wet hair.
Both of us still didn't make a sound, and Caleb walked towards the kitchen area. Instead of sitting in front of me, he grabbed his bowl of soup and surprisingly, he got mine as well and headed towards the living room. When he didn't hear the sound of my chair moving because I was still looking at him, he turned his head to look at me and raised an eyebrow.
Not even waiting for me to say something, Caleb cocked his head to the side, meaning the living room and walked over there to set our bowls down. He made himself comfortable by leaning back, and since I didn't have energy to argue about every little thing with him, I pushed my chair back once again and walked out to the living room.
I grabbed my bowl of soup and sat a few inches near him. Without another word, I blew on my soup and was about to taste it when he finally spoke up.
"Don't go out with him," he murmured. "Don't be with him anymore."
It was a good thing I already swallowed the soup in my mouth or else I would've done a spit take on the couch and it would not be pretty. I set the bowl down and look at him. He wasn't looking anywhere else except of what's in front of him.In my point of view, I can't tell what he's feeling right now, but he can't possibly just tell me that, right?
"Caleb," I sighed. "What are you talking about?"
"Don't be with him anymore," he repeated. "Ashley, I still fucking care about you. To the point that you're all I've been thinking about for the past few days, hell even months."
I stared at him. "Really? That's one hell of a way to show that you care."
Caleb leaned back, closed his eyes, then opened them while facing me. "I know I'm an ass. I really know that, but believe me when I tell you that I still want you."
