Chapter SixSchool already started and I started to forget about what happened during the party. I never saw Connor after the party, which I was still appalled at what happened, but with requirements piling up, I'm glad it takes my mind off of it.
Monica never left my side since then. She even came home early in the morning when she found out what happened to me. She said that I shouldn't be left alone, at least for a while. Liam was also constantly hanging out with me. He'd bring me to my class, sit with Monica and I during lunch time (sometimes he'd bring Marcus too). He also visits the apartment from time to time to check on me.
To be honest, I'm okay. I'm still shaken up but I'm fine. I tried to tell them that, but they wouldn't listen. They'd think about if it would happen again.
On the other hand, I never heard from Caleb either. I'd ask Liam about him and he told me he's doing fine. Since that night I guess something triggered inside of him, which explains him being distant again. I even got his number from Monica's phone discreetly because I was curious to know what's going on with him. No matter how much I wanted to call him, my thumb always seem to be freeze up just before the dial button. I was that nervous to talk to him again.
I sighed and closed my locker shut. Monica was right beside me and asked, "You ready?"
"Yeah." I nodded.
Since classes were over, me made our way to the football field where the guys will have their training. Monica invited me to watch because Marcus was part of the team. I know that Caleb will be there, and I decided to be a big girls bout it and be civil.
We sat down by the bleachers and saw than starting to warm up. I did see Connor sitting down by the water cooler, sporting some bandages on his face with a glum expression.
Looking out on the field, I immediately spotted Liam and Marcus. They weren't wearing their helmets yet and they were just throwing the football back an forth since the coach hasn't given them orders yet.
I scanned the field to look for one person in particular. As soon as I found him, I saw that he was tackling one of his teammates. He had a lazy smile as he took down his teammate and helped him, patting his shoulder. As if sensing my gaze, he looked over to where I am and I immediately averted my eyes.
Shit. He almost spotted me.
I looked back up when I heard their coach blowing on his whistle. "Blackwood! Grab some cones from the supply room in the gym."
I saw Caleb nod and jogged back inside school.
Maybe now's my chance.
"I need to go to the bathroom," I told Monica and started to get up when suddenly, she stood up too.
"I'll come with," She replied and put back her phone in her pocket.
"No, it's fine. It's just the bathroom." I forced a smile on my face. "I'll be back before you know it."
Monica nodded and sat back down. I walked down the steps on the bleacher and went back inside the school building. I quickly walked inside the gym and then stopped. The place was deserted and I couldn't seem to find the supply room. If it wasn't for the rustling of things, I wouldn't have been able to find it. Walking towards the far corner of the gymnasium, the supply room was in a secluded area that you couldn't spot it. I saw him gathering a bunch of cones and turned off the light in the room. I waited outside the room and cleared my throat when he closed the door behind him.
