Thanksgiving: What Are You Thankful For?

I'm always so late with holiday one-shots but here it goes. These precious kids haven't had a Thanksgiving in along time. Don't look at me as I sob sadly.

Their new family gathered. Sally invited The Seven, Nico, and even Reyna all the way from  Camp Jupiter, California. All these teenagers, these broken kids. They all have issues with at least one of their parents, having them not celebrating Thanksgiving like they are supposed to. They all gathered around the table, serving their meal of turkey and other delicious food. They played games and had a good time like a normal family should.

Reyna's POV

Reyna hasn't had a real Thanksgiving before. Never. She hadn't ever really had a complete family, but she felt like she could definitely get used to this. As soon as she walked in the door, Percy's mom squeezed her in a big bear hug. It was something she was not used to, that's for sure, but it felt nice. Reyna smiled. She was thankful for people like Sally in this world.

Nico's POV

The hug was a little much. Nico was, admittedly, scared to go. He hasn't had a Thanksgiving in years. He was reluctant, but couldn't say no to the invite. What could go wrong? So many things. So many. But nothing terrible happened. Food was great. He avoided the corn, but he ate almost everything else. The blue pudding? He didn't eat that either, even though Percy insisted that it was good. Yeah, no thanks. But he smiled that day. He was happy. He was thankful for the effect people can have on each other.

Piper's POV

Piper couldn't remember the last real Thanksgiving she's had. One where her father wasn't off filming a new movie. One where she wasn't alone at the table with toast and jam with some water. Sally, again with the hugs, squeezed utterly tight. Piper could feel the circulation being cut off in her arms. Once Sally let go of her vice-like squeeze session, they sat down on the couch and waited for the others to arrive. Percy, Annabeth, Nico, and Reyna were there already, playing an old board game. Percy didn't look like he knew what he was doing at all. He threw down a little green house piece on the board.

"Go Fish?" he said, but it sounded more like a question. Annabeth sighed and cover her face with a hand.

"Percy, this is Monopoly!" she said exasperatedly. His face flushed.

"Sorry, I wasn't listening when you said what game it is," he replied. Piper raised an eyebrow.

"Go Fish doesn't even have a board, or game pieces, or houses, o--" Piper listed, but was interrupted.

"Yeah, yeah, thanks Beauty Queen," Percy said. Piper was thankful for this. She was thankful for her friends.

Jason's POV

Jason came with Frank and Hazel, the last people of this gathering. As he walked into the apartment, he was bombarded with a warm smile and a warm hug from Percy's mom. It felt foreign to him. A motherly embrace was something he was not used to, at all. He shook the thought off and smiled to his friends.

"Bro, over here!" Percy called as he patted the space next to him. Jason nodded.

"I'm coming, bro," he replied. He sat in between Percy and Piper as they played Monopoly. He draped an arm around Piper as Annabeth bought a skyscraper,in the game, and placed it down.

"Oh come on, Wise Girl, let us at least try to win," Percy whined as he put his hand on her shoulder. She smirked and gave his hand a pat.

"Sorry, Seaweed Brain, but let me save you the trouble," she replied. Percy smiled as he brought her into a side hug and kissed the top of her head.

"I know and thank you," he chuckled. They played a little more before the food was ready. The food was served and they all ate. Jason was thankful for food. ( A/N He's got his priorities straight)

Hazel's POV

Hazel liked hugs, even Percy's mom's strong-gripped hugs. ( A/N I'm sorry, I just like the idea that Sally hugs everyone) The food was so good. She's never had a Thanksgiving before. Her mother was always somewhere else, even if she was in the room. Hazel usually locked herself in her room with her sketchpad and colored pencils on a holiday. But now, she had her friends, her family. Her new  family. She smiled as she watched the others laugh and have a good time. Soon enough, she joined in. Hazel was thankful for her new family.

Frank's POV

Everyone needed motherly hugs. Frank wasn't sure how to act other than awkwardly hug back. He looked up and saw Hazel as she tried not to laugh. But soon the hug was over and Sally was back in the kitchen. As they ate, stories were shared and some weren't. Smiles were spread and passed around. The room seemed to radiate love and family, if it could be a feeling. Frank missed his mother and his grandmother, but he was thankful for this life he was living. Frank was thankful for the power of love, romantic or not.

Percy's POV

Percy gave up on telling his mom to stop hugging everyone who came through the door. But really, it could be a robber and she would hug him...then smack him and tell him to get out before she calls the police. But that day was not the case. He loved that everyone could be here, except Leo. Who knows where he was. They prayed to the gods that Leo was some place where he could be happy. Dead or Alive, they wanted him to finally have a happy chapter in his life. Percy was happy. He was happy that all of them are here. His mom is still here and giving hugs left and right. He couldn't believe he's come this far. His thoughts were broken by Annabeth. She leaned over and whispered in his ear.

"If you thought the hugs coming into the apartment were too much, just imagine how they will be going out of the apartment," she whispered. A look of complete horror erupted on his face. Annabeth laughed and planted a kiss on his cheek. Percy was thankful for his mom and Annabeth. He was thankful for his two favorite people.

Annabeth's POV

Annabeth loved the Jackson family. They made her feel like she was a part of it and she felt as if it was true. In a way, it was. Sally always said that she was always welcome and that Annabeth and Percy were practically married, which she and Percy denied with flustered faces as red as tomatoes. She loved hanging out with people who care about her as much as she cared about them, unlike her family when she was seven and younger. Annabeth was thankful for all the people she knew. She was thankful for Sally and her family.
