The next few days were a complete whirlwind, she was so tired and wasn't sure if she was coming or going but she was determined she was going to be the one who didn't leave Patricks side.

Right now thank goodness Patrick was asleep lying on her chest on a lumpy twin mattress in the children's ward of Boston Memorial Hospital, waiting on some more test results from Patricks latest test.

Thinking back to his doctors appointment that afternoon and the only thing she could remember about it was holding Patrick in her arms as he cried and the doctor saying the word Cancer and Jackie trying her best to not to shed a tear because she didn't want Patrick to see that she was scared to death!

Suddenly there was knock at the door and her ex husband walked in, she didn't know why but seeing him made her finally break down into tears.

Jack quickly made his way to the bed and grabbed Jackie into his arms whispering comforting words into her ear, she had almost quit crying when she noticed her husbands new girlfriend Mia, walk into the room.

Jackie pulled herself out of Jacks arms, " are you kidding me, why the hell did you bring her here"? Jackie screamed and at that Patrick woke up.

"Mummy, what's wrong" Patrick asked

"Nothing, baby, mummy is just tired" Jackie quickly lied.

Suddenly Patrick noticed his father and the bright red race car he had in his arm, Patrick quickly sat up in the bed and held his arms out to Jack.

"How do you feel, buddy" Jack asked his son handing over the race car, " my tummy hurts" Patrick said as he started pushing the car all over the bed.

Jack smiled and glanced at Jackie, he noticed the faint smile she had and the way her eyes had completely lost the light they always held.

Jackie noticed Jack staring at her and quickly stood up from the bed.

"So has the doctor said anything else" Jack asked quietly

"No, other than what I told you on the phone, he has a basketball size tumor in his stomach and two golf size tumors on his lungs, the doctor dosent know yet if he can get them to reduce their size with just radiation or if he will have to do surgery to completely remove them, he will know that after he has more x-rays done ".

"And why hasn't he had the other x-rays done yet" Jack demanded

Jackie took a deep breath " Because, his white blood count is dangerously low right now to do them" she said.
