Jason was getting ready the next day. He and Alfie were going out for lunch to celebrate the end of college and he wanted to look nice.
Jason put a white shirt on and a black jacket with black jeans. He didn't own smart shoes and just shoved on a pair of converse.
He didn't do anything to his hair either, so all in all he just looked a smidge more classy than usual, nothing fancy.
He answered the door when it rang and Alfie stood their, a black shirt on and faded grey jeans, he heald a black coat over his arm and wore navy blue trainers, and of course his black rimmed glasses.
"Well don't we look like were going to a funeral!" Alfie exclaimed as Jason left the house and shut the door.
Jason looked down at himself and scrunched up his face, "What a casual funeral it must be" Jason said, acknowledging that, though their outfits were smarter than usual they weren't exactly fit for a funeral.
"I think we look rather dashing" Alfie said, his eyes sparkling mischievously. Alfie heald out his arm and linked it with Jason's.
They quickly drove to the restaurant and took their seat at a small, neatly set table by a window.
When their wine came Alfie insisted on making a toast, raising his glass he spoke.
"To us, the guy who thought he'd never survive college and the other guy who desperately tried to survive art!" He said with a smile and they both took large sips of their wine.
"Where did you go before you came here?" Jason asked, knowing that Alfie was quite quiet when it came to his past.
"Just some other school, it was pretty dull and...I just didnt fit in I guess so my parents decided to move me here in the hope it was better for me while they were away." Alfie said, looking at Jason intently.
"Well thank god they did" Jason said, flipping through his menu.
"Why's that?" Alfie askd curiously and Jason suddenly realised he'd spoken out loud.
"Because...otherwise I wouldn't have met you!" He said, deciding to be 100% honest and Alfie gave him a sweet smile.
Alfie heald Jason's hand which had been resting on the table.
"And I wouldn't have met you" he said "and what a dull life I would lead".
Jason laughed and moved his fingers with Alfies as if to a tune. He laced his fingers with Alfie's, pulled them back again and gave his hand a squeeze, just as he had done to him.
They ordered and spent hours sat in the nice restaurant, talking and laughing. They took a selfie and made fun of how awfully stupid they looked in it.
Jason never wanted the dinner to end but it did. He always felt warm when he was with Alfie and he hated it when that feeling disappeared.
Alfie drove Jason home, one hand on the steering wheel and the other wrapped up in Jason's.
Jason told Alfie to pull up on his road, rather than right up to his house. He said it would be easier for him to turn around, when in actual fact Jason didn't want anyone to see him do this...
Jason leaned over and pecked Alfie on the cheek and as Alfie turned his head he gave him a quick kiss on the lips before saying goodbye and hopping out of the car.
Jason walked down his road as Alfie turned off in the other direction and he saw the shape of a person, leaning up against the side of his house. Mason.
