Jason and Alfie stood in silence for what seemed like ages. Standing just inches apart in the dimly lit room.
"Where were you?" Jason whispered, flashbacks to his dad slicing the blade accross his stomach, his boots crashing against his fragile ribs.
Alfie looked ashamed for a moment "I texted you...and I thought you were texting back. you were different and I asked you but you said you were fine. So earlier today I decided something was wrong and I came here to find you...I'm so sorry" Alfie said but now it all made sense to Jason.
"It was my dad...he was texting you on my phone..." Jason grumbled, running his hands through his hair agitatedly. Alfie nodded in understanding.
"Did...did he do this to you?" Alfie asked, his eyes drifting accross Jason's face and Jason felt tears coming to his eyes. He couldn't understand why but he nodded and Alfie pulled him towards his chest.
Alfie enveloped Jason in his arms and Jason burried his head into the boys shoulder, trying to keep the tears back.
It hurt Jason to be pressed up against something and the cuts on his stomach felt like they were burning...but this was Alfie and he knew it would hurt more to be apart.
"I'm so sorry" Alfie whispered over and over again in Jason's ear.
When they finally pulled away Jason had tears on his cheeks and Alfie reached up to wipe them away. Jason smiled weakly at him, looking into his green eyes.
"You should go...I couldn't bare to see anything happen to you...if my dad found you..." Jason stammered, still holding Alfie protectively by the waist.
"Shushh...I'm not leaving you!" Alfie whispered determinedly and Jason wanted to protest but when Alfie leaned in, brushing his lips accross Jason's...he forgot any worry he'd had before.
"Thank you" Jason whispered, their lips so close it was like sweet torture.
They stood together, arms around each other and lips so close but not touching, their eyes closed.
Jason felt like they were the only people in the entire world and he never wanted this moment to end.
He'd never imagined himself feeling this way about a person in his entire life...he couldn't explain it. Alfie was everything.
"You should probably get some sleep...you look terrible" Alfie said and Jason opened his eyes to see a playful smile on the boys face.
Jason nodded and ambled over to his bed. He gave Alfie a weak look and he followed him.
Jason folded the covers back and lay down, shuffling over to leave room for Alfie, who lay down beside him, pulling the covers over both their bodies.
Jason rolled onto his side and Alfie followed suit, bending his body around Jasons.
Alfie wrapped an arm accross Jason's stomach and Jason felt so safe in his arms.
"I will stay with you" Alfie whispered into the back of Jason's head and he placed a light kiss there before he settled down.
Jason lay there, awake for a while, feeling Alfie's chest rise and fall against his back. He could feel Alfie's steadily beating heart and there was no one he would have rather been with at that very moment.
Jason smiled weakly and pulled Alfie's arm closer around himself before closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep.
