I slowly walk over to my new seat and I can feel his eyes scaning me up and down. Right when I get to the table he starts talking, "I'm Chase if you hadn't guessed from Mrs. Brown's yelling."
"Yeah, that kind of tipped me off."
"We just finished the orientation to this class so basically you only missed the boring stuff. We're going to start by making a cake, do you know how to do that?"
"Yeah, I love baking. I'm not too bad at decorating either so that could help."
"Yeah, I'm taking art this year so i can get better at it. I'm not exactly the best artist though I have been told I'm pretty good at football."
"Not tooting your own horn at all there. I'm taking art too. What period? Mine's 6th."
"Same here. Lucky me, I've got 2 classes with one of the cutest girls in the grade."
And with that comment, class started. I've never met a guy that had looks and a personality more complex than velcro shoes. I missed having a guy friend that was easy to talk to. The last one was Brian but I moved away after 6 months, we lost touch after that. "Do you have a boyfriend?"
The question snapped me out of my deep thought as I looked to see who asked. It was Chase. "Umm, no. I never really got a chance to date sinice I move around so much. Why?"
"I was just curious. Pretty girl like you had to have a guy somewhere. How long are you going to stay in Crestview?"
"Three years, my parents made sure so I could finish highschool here."
"Well if your going to stick around for a while, you should think about dating. Plently of guys would be lining up for a chance with you, one of them in this class," and with my luck being less than none, the bell rings. "See you 6th." And with a wink and a smile, he was gone.
5th period came faster than I thought it would. Nothing really interesting happened in science so it was gym before I knew it. After quick changing with Amber, Noel, and Cat, we quickly left the locker room and entered the gym. As we're walking along the wall to 'warm up', Amber grabs my arm and pulls me backwards so that I'm standing next to her. "Am i as insane as Mr. Z or is Chase Roberts staring at you?"
Looking around the room, I see the god-like guy walking around the gym with some of his buddies, and Amber was right, he was looking right at me. "I guess he is, he's my partner in culinary. Is it really a big deal?"
"Umm, yes! Chase Roberts is the hottest guy in the school and he's staring at you. This is more than a big deal!"
"Lower your voice, he's going to hear you! He's in my next period too, just calm down, ok."
"Fine but at the sleepover Friday you're telling us all about this."
"Wait, what sleepover?"
"Oh yeah, you're invited to a sleepover at my place this Friday. It's just going to be me, you, Noel, Cat, and our two other best friends: Gabby and Marie. They go to private highschools so we get together every so often to hang out, it's fun. You have to go, you're the newest memeber in the group."
Wait a second, I was part of a group? "I'm part of your group?"
"Yeah, you're one of us now, so are you in or out?"
"I'm in!"
And I was finally a part of something. After all of these years of never feeling like I belonged and never willing to set down roots in one place. I just wouldn't do it and just have them ripped out again. But here I am, my first day at a new school and I'm part of a 'group'. I have three friends already and the hottest guy in school as a partner. I finally feel home.
