I stare off into the rippling watter moving down the rocks in front of me. Rolling over, my eyelids gentaly flutter closed and the sounds of nature suround me. The birds singing their little songs up in the trees, the trickle of water running it's way down the fall. the peacefulness lets your mind drift to far away places, the places you've always wanted to go. Or maybe your mind says exactly where it is, competely content with the life you have at that exact point in time. When I close my eyes, I don't go anywhere, I stay right here in Crestview.
There's no more moving around every six months and being afraid of setting down roots somewhere. I have everything I could ever wish for and more. A loving boyfriend, and the best friends a girl could ask for. In my short time in this town, i've been able to learn from each of these girls and, for the first time, feel accepted.
I used to curse at the military taking my family and me all over the country, but I finally have something to thank it for. It brought me to a place I would have never picked for myself, but I didn't have to; it picked me. From the first day, Amber welcomed me with open arms and with her, all of the other girls did too.
Taking a deep breath, the sent of sweet flowers invades my nose. Nussling my head into my arm, I start fading into a light sleep, when a vibration coming from next to me brings me back to reality. An unknown number apears on my lit up phone screen, "Hello?"
"Honey, we're coming home."
And with four little words, everything comes into place. Closing my eyes one last time, I attempt to think of somewhere else but it's useless. There's nowhere I'd rather be than here.
